Saber Interactive, the development studio behind last year's mega-hit shooter Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, is reportedly developing a game based on a franchise held by production company Hasbro. The parent company of Dungeons and Dragons owner Wizards of the Coast, Hasbro owns a huge number of beloved toy and game franchises, including G.I. Joe, Transformers, My Little Pony, and more.

Saber Interactive is entering 2025 on a strong note. Despite releasing relatively late into the year, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 broke massive sales milestones, becoming the fastest-selling game the studio ever produced. The game was also a critical success, helping revive the then-dormant Space Marine series and reaffirming the Warhammer 40,000 franchise's broad appeal and commercial prospects in a competitive AAA gaming market.

Now Hasbro, another major IP holder, is turning to Saber Interactive to potentially replicate that success. According to comments made by Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks, the company is working with Saber Interactive to develop a new game based on a major Hasbro-owned IP. Cocks did not specify which of Hasbro's many IPs would be the subject of Saber's new game. One of the best recent games based on a Hasbro franchise is Baldur's Gate 3, which won multiple awards and is based on Dungeons & Dragons.

New Hasbro AAA Game to be Developed By Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Team

Cocks delivered his comments during a Hasbro earnings call held on February 20, 2025. He narrowed down the potential range of candidates by saying that Saber's new game will be based on one of Hasbro's "tentpole" franchises. Cocks claimed to be a personal fan of many of Saber's games, particularly Space Marine 2, and praised the latter as an example of games with great single-player and multiplayer modes. Cock's comments also mentioned Saber's "Swarm tech," the technical solution the studio used to render huge groups of alien Terminid enemies in Space Marine 2.

The comments by Hasbro immediately ignited speculation as to which of Hasbro's many franchises would be adapted into AAA game form by Saber's Space Marine 2 team. Hasbro already has multiple games in the works, including ones based on Dungeons and Dragons, an original RPG from former BioWare developers called Exodus, and even a new game based on G.I. Joe's Snake Eyes character.

One potential candidate for a new Hasbro franchise title could be Transformers. The setting is a good fit for the Space Marine 2 team's clear experience making large-scale action games with high-end visuals. On top of that, despite being a major Hasbro IP, there hasn't been a major Transformers game release in some time, with Splash Damage's Transformers: Reactivate getting canceled earlier this year. Whatever it turns out to be based on, Hasbro seems to have chosen a reliable partner in Saber for its next major title.
