Despite Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 enjoying both critical and commercial success, fans continue to suffer from issues playing the game's co-op mode and online component in general. While Space Marine 2 delivers an action-packed story mode, the game also features several ways to play online, both cooperatively and competitively. However, the game's co-op mode is notoriously difficult to get working, with Space Marine 2 players feeling frustrated by an all-too-common matchmaking error.
Developed by Saber Interactive, Space Marine 2 once again transports fans into the grim, desolate world of Warhammer 40K, offering an intense and satisfying third-person shooter adventure. Steeped in the rich lore of Warhammer 40K, players embody Lieutenant Titus as they and their army of Space Marines battle the seemingly never-ending swarms of Tyranids and Chaos. However, Space Marine 2 also shipped with several online modes, one that allows players to test their shooting skills in an arena-like PvP setting, as well as a cooperative mode. Unfortunately, this co-op mode is proving to affect Space Marine 2's overall functionality.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and Helldivers 2 Are Two Sides of the Same Coin
Space Marine 2 and Helldivers 2 naturally have a lot in common, but they also have some unique features that set them apart from each other.
The dreaded "joining server" bug has plagued prospective Space Marines since Space Marine 2 first launched earlier this month, causing headaches when trying to play in the game's three-player co-op mode. A massive thread was shared on Reddit detailing known issues and glitches within Space Marine 2's multiplayer. Space Marine 2 launched with the noticeable omission of a private PvE lobby option, making matchmaking with friends often tedious and frustrating. There are workarounds, thankfully, though many agree Space Marine 2 desperately needs a private lobby option.
Space Marine 2 Faces Matchmaking Issues
Space Marine 2's PvE mode is easy to join for those with a full lobby or players playing the game solo with randoms. However, the game mode can leave players hanging if they only happen to have two out of the three needed to launch an operation. Reports claim two players launching matchmaking can be stuck searching for a third player for quite some time. There have also been reports that Space Marine 2 has crashed while trying to find multiplayer games.
Fixes to these issues may come in a future update, with plenty more exciting things planned for Space Marine 2. Space Marine 2 launched with a packed content roadmap that lays out the game's upcoming expansions and future content. Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2' s upcoming second season will begin this October and will last until the end of 2024, with Season 2 adding several new items and features that will keep things feeling fresh for players.
