There are multiple chapters of Chaos Space Marines that players can choose to play as in the Eternal War game mode of Space Marine 2. While you can't play as the Thousand Sons seen in some missions of the main campaign, players do have some freedom when playing as Chaos Space Marines.

While there is a ton of creativity when building your loyalist Space Marine, the customization with Chaos Space Marines is more limited. Despite these limitations, players can still find fun in changing some aspects of their Chaos Space Marines when trying to beat out the forces of the Emperor in PVP.

How To Play As Chaos Space Marines In Space Marine 2

There are only six chapters of Chaos Space Marines players can choose from in Space Marine 2' s Eternal War game mode.

  • Alpha Legion
  • Black Legion
  • Death Guard
  • Night Lords
  • World Eaters
  • Iron Warriors

To play as a Chaos Space Marine, you just have to get lucky when a new game of Eternal War starts. Of those in the game, they will be randomly selected between Loyalists and Heretics after the map loads. While a list of players on each team appears before the game starts, and is only displaying teams and does not indicate who are Loyalists and Heretics.

Every game is a new draw, meaning staying in the same lobby won't increase your odds, though every game has a 50/50 chance. Aside from the armor and weapon skins, Heretics and Loyalists play exactly the same, and the only changes are cosmetic.

You can only play as Chaos Space Marines in individual Eternal War games, as time spent on the Barge will have you back as a Loyalist.

How To Customize Chaos Space Marines In Space Marine 2

Customizing your Chaos Space Marine is much more limited than what you can do with Loyalists. Each Chaos Chapter is tied to a specific class, and wearing the armor of that Chapter will require you to play as a specific class in the game.

  • Alpha Legion - Sniper
  • Black Legion - Tactical
  • Death Guard - Bulwark
  • Night Lords - Assault
  • World Eaters - Vanguard
  • Iron Warriors - Heavy

While the actual Chapter armor and look are stuck to each class, you can change the colors of any Chaos Chapter to be another Chapter's colors in the same way you would your Loyalist Space Marine. To change the colors and customize your Chaos Space Marine, select the class of the Chapter you want to customize and select the, "Edit Armor" option. Along the right side of the screen will be the Heretic Astartes button which will switch to the Chaos Space Marine of that class and let you change their colors to whichever you'd like.
