Most Tyranids in Space Marine 2 rely heavily on melee attacks to overwhelm their enemies. While many players will simply try to kill an enemy before they can attack, but facing so many Tyranids at once will often result in incoming attacks from all directions.
While players can dodge to get out of the way, parrying incoming attacks is a great way to turn the tide of a fight back in your favor, and even set enemies up for a brutal execution. Parrying and executing enemies are some of the best options in combat, and lead to a steady supply of health.
Space Marine 2: Best Classes For Operations, Ranked
Players are going to want to bring the best Ultramarines for the job in Space Marine 2's Operations to dominate the PvE content with ease.
How To Parry Attacks In Space Marine 2
Attacks can come from the larger Tyranid Warriors or the smaller gaunts, and parrying them can be slightly different. The best time to parry an incoming attack is when the enemy flashes blue. Landing a parry during that window will result in you breaking their defense if they are a Tyranid Warrior, or just outright killing them if they are a gaunt. To parry, simply press L1 on PlayStation, LB on Xbox, or C on PC right before the attack hits you. Parrying an attack that is highlighted blue will also sometimes require an earlier parry than some players are used to, meaning you should parry as the enemy lunges at you, but before they begin the swing animation.
Even regular attacks where the enemy doesn't flash blue can be parried. Parrying these weaker attacks from a gaunt will either greatly hurt them or sometimes just outright kill them, but with a less flashy animation. Parrying a basic attack on a Tyranid Warrior will block the attack but won't break their
Combo or defense, leading to more incoming attacks.
Attacks when an enemy flashes red cannot be parried and should be dodged.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 – All Currencies and How to Get Them
Space Marine 2 has no microtransactions in sight, but there are a few currencies that players must acquire in order to become the best Ultramarine.
How To Perform Executions In Space Marine 2
To execute an enemy, approach one that is flashing red and press R3 on PlayStation, the right Joystick on Xbox, or E on PC. Executions are the flashy way to kill enemies and also restore health, but they can also be finished off with a few shots or basic melee attacks. To break an enemy and make them flash red, players will need to:
- Shoot an enemy multiple times.
- Break their Synaptic connection.
- Hit the enemy with a melee weapon multiple times.
- Hit the enemy with a grenade or explosion that doesn't finish them off.
- Parry an attack with a blue flash on a weakened enemy.
Larger enemies such as Tyranid Warriors just need to have their health reduced to be executed, but landing a parry on a blue flash attack when they are already weak usually speeds up this process greatly. Smaller gaunts will usually be killed once they lose their Synaptic connection, but those left will be stuck flashing red and can be executed for easy sources of health back after a tough fight.
