Players are able to choose from six classes in Eternal War in Space Marine 2, and while they are the same as Operations they can't be upgraded in the same way. Even without the upgrades, each class plays very differently and has different abilities and weapons.
Eternal War is the PVP game mode and it is all about teamwork. While it may seem best to prioritize killing enemies, some classes are much better at completing objectives or supporting your team. Here are all six classes in the game ranked on how good they are in Eternal War.
Space Marine 2: 4 Best Grenades
Grenades are a powerful tool any class can use in Space Marine 2; here are the best ones to prioritize.
6 Heavy
- Armor Class - 3
- Ability - Iron Halo: Creates a Barrier that blocks all incoming ranged damage.
The Heavy does have a powerful two-handed weapon that is able to deal incredible amounts of damage in the right situation. Iron Halo ability can also be very helpful when placed correctly to block incoming damage, though it can suffer should you be flanked.
The Heavy also doesn't have a designated melee weapon, and melee weapons are king in PVP. Melee does through an enemy's armor to deal damage directly to their health, so the lack of a proper melee weapon can make this class less effective. The Heavy Bolter is the starting weapon for this class, and does take a few seconds before it is firing at full speed, which an enemy can take advantage of to take you down.
5 Vanguard
- Armor Class - 2
- Ability: Grapnel Hook - Latch onto enemies or the environment to be pulled towards it.
The Vanguard's unique ability makes 1v1s much easier, as an enemy you hook onto will be briefly stunned and allow you to deliver the first melee blow, and win a fight. The grapnel is also great for getting around and getting to hard-to-reach places to set up an ambush on an unsuspecting enemy.
6 Hardest Bosses In Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, Ranked
Space Marine 2 is going to challenge players with an assortment of deadly boss fights that can easily end in either victory or death.
This class is a great assassin-esk class, meaning it does fall off in group fights. The lower armor makes ranged fighting more dangerous, and the grapnel hook also locks you into an animation, leaving you vulnerable to enemy shooting before you can get to and kill your target.
4 Sniper
- Armor Class - 2
- Ability: Camo Cloak - Turn invisible until your next attack.
The Sniper is able to deal a lot of damage from a distance, and landing headshots can cripple an enemy before a fight even starts. While this class also has less armor, fighting from a safer distance should make up for this weakness as other weapons deal less damage from a distance.
The Camo Cloak also makes this class incredibly effective in melee, as the invisibility is not broken when hit by an enemy. As long as you avoid an Auspex Scan, you will remain invisible and can get up close and personal with your melee weapon to start attacking an enemy before they even know you are there.
3 Tactical
- Armor Class - 3
- Ability: Auspex Scan - Reveal and mark enemies. Marked enemies take additional damage.
The Tactical class is a strong well-rounded class, having access to decent melee and ranged weapons to decently counter any enemy in combat. While it doesn't exceed in one thing, it does hold its own in team fights and can pair well with any team composition.
Space Marine 2: How To Change Class & Loadouts
Players can change their class and loadout in Operations and Eternal War in Space Marine 2; here's how to do both.
The Auspex Scan not only helps mark enemies through walls or reveals invisible enemies but also makes them take more damage while marked. This is great for team fights and a well-placed scan can give your team an incredible upper hand.
2 Assault
- Armor Class - 3
- Ability: Jump Pack - Increased dodges and dashes, along with the ability to briefly fly.
Melee combat is very important in Space Marine 2's Eternal War, as any damage from a melee weapon goes straight to an enemy's health and through their armor. This makes all classes just as easy to kill, while also giving you access to the best mobility and melee weapons available.
While the jumpack's flight ability can leave you susceptible to enemy fire from the ground, a well-timed jump and descent can have you landing on an unsuspecting enemy to immediately damage their health greatly. The Thunderhammer may have a slow swing speed but can deal an incredible amount of damage to bunched-up enemies hiding in a control point.
1 Bulwark
- Armor Class - 3
- Ability: Chapter Banner - Place a chapter banner that regenerates the armor of nearby allies.
The Bulwark is an overall tank that has a shield that will absorb just about all incoming ranged damage. This shield is arguably the best defense a player can have in combat, and it can withstand a barrage of fire even from a Heavy Bolter.
The Bulwark's ability also makes this class the ultimate support class, as you're able to regenerate your entire team's armor with proper placement. This class also has a heavy focus on melee weapons, which are some of the best available in the game mode.
