THQ Nordic announced South Park: Snow Day, a co-op game that's scheduled to hit PC and consoles in 2024. The Austrian publisher originally teased its new South Park game almost a year ago to date.

That teaser was preceded by one surprisingly forthcoming job ad that surfaced online in early 2022, revealing that another South Park game is in the works. Apart from confirming the project's existence, the listing also suggested that the new South Park game will have multiplayer elements, which proved to be accurate.

South Park: Snow Day was treated to a reveal trailer at the 2023 THQ Nordic Showcase. The minute-long promo opens on Cartman holding a passionate speech about how snow day is "the most magical of days in a young child's life." He does so while standing in front of Jimbo's Guns, a gun store owned by Jimbo Kern that's a recurring location throughout the TV series, having also appeared in Ubisoft's authentic South Park RPGs The Stick of Truth and The Fractured But Whole.

Cartman's speech is followed by some 20 seconds of gameplay footage showing a hectic fight in the middle of a post-blizzard town square. The clip is consistent with THQ Nordic's description of South Park: Snow Day as a co-op game for up to four players, not least because it depicts Cartman, Kyle, Stan, and Kenny fighting off waves of middle schoolers in what appears to be a player-versus-environment (PvE) type of encounter.

Unlike Ubisoft's critically acclaimed South Park RPGs, Snow Fight doesn't attempt to replicate the cutout-like visual style of the iconic TV show. Instead, the game features 3D graphics, although its character designs appear to be faithful to South Park's simple aesthetic. And though the game's very title alludes to snowball fights being part of the package, the combat shown in the reveal trailer was much more hectic, featuring everything from a variety of melee weapons and fireballs to some interesting traversal options like a snow shovel repurposed into a character catapult.

THQ Nordic confirmed that the upcoming co-op title is in development at Question Games, a Tiburon, California-company best known for its unique 2015 sandbox experience The Magic Circle. That doesn't come as a surprise, seeing how the developer of the new South Park game was originally leaked in January 2022. South Park Digital Studios are also assisting with the development of South Park: Snow Day. The game itself is still without a concrete release date, but seeing how it's coming in 2024 and given its snowy theme, it's plausible that THQ Nordic is targeting a holiday 2024 launch.

South Park: Snow Day is coming to PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S in 2024.
