With the release of the next Soulcalibur game, titled Soulcalibur 6, on the horizon, more classic Soulcalibur characters, as well as various guest characters that will join the latest tale of souls and swords are being revealed. Only a day ago, the gameplay trailer for the Japanese demon-hunting kunoichi Taki was leaked.
Taki has appeared in Soulcalibur as early as 1995, and is in fact one of the original Soul Edge characters, which is the first ever Soulcalibur game. In the leaked Taki gameplay trailer, Taki is shown with her original red jumpsuit Soulcalibur outfit, and nostalgic fans will be happy to know that the character does not seem to have changed much for the latest installment of the franchise. Taki will still be using her Kodachi short swords, named Rekki-Maru & Mekki-Maru, and she keeps her iconic Japanese voice.
Taki has appeared in almost all of the Soulcalibur games to date, as well as in many other fighting games, and she has undoubtedly remained a fan-favorite for many years. Many Soulcalibur fans will be happy to see that she will be returning in Soulcalibur 6 along with other classic Soulcalibur characters such as Ivy and Zasalamel.
In addition to these, so far Kilik, Sophitia, Mitsurugi, Nightmare, and Xianghua, as well as one new character, Groh, have also been confirmed by Bandai Namco. Some guest fighters in Soulcalibur 6 also include Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher and online rumors are circulating for potential guest characters such as the Hunter from Bloodborne for the PlayStation 4 version, and Jago from Killer Instinct on the Xbox One, but they have yet to be confirmed.
As is seen in other Soulcalibur 6 reveal trailers, many of the classic Soulcalibur characters will not be undergoing many changes in terms of looks and weapons in the new game. For old-time fans of the franchise, this may be a welcomed nostalgic experience, but it would be nice to see some more character development after so many years.
Soulcalibur 6 will be released later this year on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
