Ahead of this week's PlayStation Showcase and expected updates regarding the state of Sony's first-party plans for the platform, Sony has confirmed its intent to continue bringing more exclusive titles to PC. While heavy hitters in Sony's stable of first-party exclusives have made their way to PC, one exclusive title that has been conspicuously absent from the conversation is Bloodborne, which was developed for PS4. Long-rumored but never confirmed, a PC port of Bloodborne has been near the top of many players' wishlists for years now, and it appears that those same fans may have to continue waiting for the time being.

Even though FromSoftware has gone on to evolve its Soulsborne formula through last year's phenomenal Elden Ring, many fans still consider Bloodborne to be the pinnacle of the subgenre thanks to its frantic, offensive combat and gothic horror setting that differentiate it from the Dark Souls series. With a large contingent of players hoping that the game will eventually make its way to PC just like other FromSoftware titles, it's surprising that Sony continues to ignore an opportunity to have a guaranteed win through a PC port and modern remaster of Bloodborne.

Sony's Lack of a Bloodborne PC Port Is Leaving Money on the Table

Bloodborne Evidence of PC Version

Considering that Elden Ring is FromSoftware's greatest success to date and helped to endear the company to an entirely new legion of fans, the success of a Bloodborne PC port is almost a guarantee. Sony's decision to continue moving forward with PC ports has been met with a broader audience that is now able to access these titles, and it's clear that the PC ports of Sony's first-party exclusives could be a winning strategy that fans could become accustomed to in the future.

Of course, Bloodborne is widely available to anyone who happens to own a PS4 or PS5, but a significant portion of FromSoftware's consumer base may prefer to play games on PC. Therefore, it's not hard to imagine a Bloodborne PC port doing extremely well for both Sony and FromSoftware, which would please fans who have patiently waited for the game to leave its console exclusivity for years.

A Bloodborne PC Port Could Preclude a Remake or Direct Sequel

An added bonus to the development and release of a Bloodborne PC port could be that its success may pave the way for a remaster or remake of the title on PS5. Otherwise, significant fan interest and the commercial success of a PC version of Bloodborne may help give FromSoftware a reason to finally develop a sequel.

Aside from working on Elden Ring DLC and releasing Armored Core 6 later this year, it is rumored that FromSoftware has an unannounced third title in the works. Whether a remaster, remake, or upscaled PC port, many fans have their collective fingers crossed that this title is somehow Bloodborne-related.

Sony's commitment to PC ports is good news for players, as many of Sony's first-party exclusives are critical darlings and held as some of the best experiences the medium has to offer. With the hit-or-miss nature of Sony's PC ports to date, it's possible that Sony has kept quiet about Bloodborne in a conscious effort to wait until the PC port is absolutely ready for market and indicative of the quality associated with its first-party exclusives.

The Last of Us Part 1's PC port is not a blunder that Sony can take lightly, and another poorly received PC port at launch could steer fans away from that premise. Whatever the case, fans of Bloodborne have eagerly awaited a follow-up, and the success of a PC port for Bloodborne may be just what FromSoftware needs as a sign for it to begin work on a sequel.
