What is The Cross in Sons of the Forest?

The Cross is often overlooked by players because it seems useless against cannibals and animals. However, it can actually deal significant damage to Demons. You can find this tool in two different locations. One is in the Zipline Rope Gun cave near a small waterfall where you can find the Sun Baton. Make sure to bring a flashlight since caves can be very dark and there might be mutants in this cave. Look for the second Cross inside the bunker that requires the Maintenance Keycard. You can use your GPS to spot these locations easily.

The main purpose of the Cross is to fight Demons. Even though players will not face Demons until later in the game, it would still be a good idea to grab the Cross early on as it’s easy to collect. Once you have obtained it, simply aim at Demons to set them on fire. You can use this powerful weapon to attack multiple Demons with a single attack.

When you attack a Demon with the Cross, it will catch fire for around four seconds. If you’re up against a large Demon, it'll burn for two turns after a Cross attack. Keep attacking the Demon with the Cross until its health drops below 30, and then you can easily finish it off.

As far as mutants are concerned, the Cross can be used to push away certain types of mutants in Sons of the Forest. Smaller mutants like Puffies can be pushed away more easily compared to larger ones like Holeys and Caterpillars. Rather than scaring them away, it would be better to use a powerful weapon to deal with them.
