Sega revealed a brand-new look for Black Doom, a villain who is making his grand return in Sonic X Shadow Generations as the main antagonist of Shadow's story. Many fans have been incredibly hyped about Sonic X Shadow Generations, the enhanced remaster of the 2011 original game. It not only brings the original Sonic Generations to new platforms, but also includes a brand-new story campaign that puts Shadow the Hedgehog, one of Sonic's most iconic rivals, upfront and center.

Shadow Generations promises to be a nostalgic run through Shadow's past playable appearances, even touching upon his contentious spin-off game. One of the most surprising parts of Shadow Generations so far is the return of Black Doom, an antagonist from Shadow the Hedgehog who had greater ties to Shadow himself. Black Doom is one of Shadow's most personal enemies, and previews of Shadow Generations imply he is responsible for the edgy hedgehog's time travel troubles. Sega recently gave fans a brand-new look at Black Doom, showing some changes between his debut in Shadow the Hedgehog and his upcoming appearance in Shadow Generations.

Sega shared this new render of Black Doom on the Japanese website 4Gamer, along with some new screenshots of the Sky Sanctuary stage from the original game. Black Doom's new look is much more vibrant, with the jewelry and chains around his neck being bright gold instead of silver and brown, and the gems he wears are more colorful as well. Black Doom's previous appearance in Shadow the Hedgehog gave him a more gritty and brown color scheme, while Shadow Generations makes him a lot more vivid.

Another change regarding Black Doom's appearance in Shadow Generations is his eyes, where they now have more distinct pupils, as well as some of his clothing being somewhat simplified, removing the symbols from his scarf. While Black Doom has been shown in some previews of Shadow Generations already, it was only through his Doom's Eye form. This is the first time fans have seen the full body version of the character.

Shadow Generations has a greater emphasis on story, giving Shadow the spotlight and having him confront a past enemy who he defeated a long time ago. The upcoming Shadow Generations will also be exploring Shadow's connection to the Black Arms, as he was created by integrating Black Doom's blood. That connection is being brought to the forefront thanks to Shadow's new Doom Powers, which give him unique abilities such as sprouting Venom symbiote-esque wings from his back.
