June 2022 has already been packed with news about Sonic the Hedgehog, and fans should expect more before the month ends. While this year has already been rather great for the blue blur with his latest movie, there's still more to come in the form of Sonic Frontiers, Sonic Origins, and Sonic Prime. While more info on these things is certainly coming, fans may wonder when they can expect to see them make headlines again.

While there aren't too many specifics to follow on when Sega plans to reveal more on what's going on with Sonic the Hedgehog, there are a few key dates fans should keep their eyes on. These dates are specifically June 23, and June 29. While the former is for more obvious reasons, the latter may be more exciting for those looking forward to Sonic Frontiers.

There aren't too many Sonic fans out there who don't understand what June 23 means for the series. There are two important meanings associated with the date that goes hand-in-hand. June 23, 1991, marked the release of Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis; the day that started it all. As a result, Sega has officially declared that June 23 is Sonic's birthday canonically to match.

Due to the importance of this date in particular, it isn't out of the question that there may be some news showing up on official Sonic social media channels on that day specifically. Currently, the social media manager for the brand has let fans know there will be at least a small Livestream on YouTube and Twitch involving Sonic Origins, which also releases that very same day. This doesn't at all lower or raise the chances of some other news coming out that day alongside it, meaning fans should definitely keep their eyes peeled.

When Fans Can Expect More Info About Sonic Frontiers

While Summer Game Fest came and went without a trailer for Sonic Frontiers, the game was present at the "Play Days" in-person event through a playable demo. However, the demo was only available to select attendees through an appointment and came with a few catches even if someone managed to play it. For the select few that got to try the game early, they had to sign non-disclosure agreements that allowed them to talk about the game, but not specific pieces of it.

Some hands-on impressions of the game have made their way to different media outlets, but these impressions also state that they can't talk about everything they saw in the demo just yet. Some of these preview pieces have outright mentioned that they'll be able to discuss the demo at length on June 29. Considering IGN has the initiative to put the spotlight on Sonic Frontiers all throughout June, it's likely that players will get more info from the site either before or on June 29.

Even though the well of Sonic Frontiers news has run a bit dry compared to the first few weeks of June, it seems that the news fans were promised throughout the month isn't exhausted quite yet. There are still plenty of details about the game Sonic Team has yet to talk about, such as the game's story, user interface, and "cyberspace" levels as mentioned in the recent previews the game has had.

The end of the month certainly seems like it'll be rather interesting for S onic fans. While the Livestream on June 23 doesn't change the odds of some news coming out on Sonic's birthday, Sonic Origins' release certainly does. Even if June 23 turns out to be rather quiet for those who enjoy the Modern Sonic titles, some news about the next mainline game is sure to follow shortly after. No matter what happens, there are still plenty of things for fans to look forward to this month, and even beyond.

Sonic Frontiers is scheduled to release holiday 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
