This article contains spoilers from the Solo Leveling series.
Solo Leveling has proven to be an absolute phenomenon in the world of anime ever since its debut, back in 2024. The series reached unprecedented heights, and it was propelled to new levels in the following year, with the release of its incredible Season 2. It's no surprise to know that a big reason why Solo Leveling carries the appeal that it does is down to the protagonist, Sung Jinwoo, who is loved far and wide.
It's Time To Say Goodbye To Solo Leveling's Protagonist Forever
Solo Leveling is saying goodbye to its beloved protagonist as the story takes a different focus.
Anime fans all over the world absolutely adore Sung Jinwoo for his charismatic personality, as well as the fact that he always dominates the fights, showing everyone that he is truly the epitome of the overpowered protagonist done right. As many fans know already, the Solo Leveling web novel as well as the manhwa have wrapped up already, but due to the recent surge in popularity, there could be new Sung Jinwoo material coming fans' way that is set after the end of Solo Leveling. Of course, there's already Solo Leveling Ragnarok, which will, most likely, eventually get an anime as well, and will continue the journey of Jinwoo despite primarily focusing on Suho, but there could also be a totally new sequel headed fans' way soon.
Solo Leveling Author Confirms A New Potential Sequel
Jinwoo's Story Should Continue Beyond Solo Leveling
- A new Sung Jinwoo story would be fantastic
- Fans want a true Chugong sequel
Solo Leveling fans would be delighted to know that the author has already revealed his plans for a potential continuation of the universe by writing a direct sequel to the original web novel. Sung Jinwoo's main story concluded with the end of the main Solo Leveling series. After that, fans haven't really had a proper sequel to it.
I use the system, and the system uses me. — Sung Jinwoo, Solo Leveling
Solo Leveling's Best Episode Has Finally Been Dethroned
Solo Leveling season 2 was big, but this iconic shonen series has dethroned its best episode.
Now, Chugong believes that a sequel series is well and truly a possibility. Chugong himself has entertained the idea of writing a potential sequel himself, but what stage of development the idea is in, and whether or not it'll even happen remains to be seen. Here's what Chugong had to say about it:
“Ragnarok was a spin-off created for fanservice. I was curious to see how another author would write Solo Leveling. This story is part of the Solo Leveling universe, but it isn’t a direct continuation of the main plot. It’s more like one of many possible scenarios—similar to Marvel’s parallel universes. And of course, I’m also considering the possibility of writing a sequel myself.” — Chugong
Solo Leveling Ragnarok Features Sung Jinwoo As Well
Solo Leveling Has Multiple Universes
Regardless of whether a Solo Leveling web novel sequel happens or not, Sung Jinwoo's story continues. This is because Solo Leveling Ragnarok still exists and it will most likely get its own anime after Solo Leveling wraps up.
Each time I grow stronger I feel like I lose a part of myself. — Sung Jinwoo
When that happens, fans will see bits and pieces of Jinwoo, and while he won't be the primary focus of the story, he'll still be around and his presence will always be felt.
Whether fans like to admit it or not, Sung Jinwoo is well and truly here to stay and his story will continue in the Solo Leveling universe, be it by Chugong through a new novel, or by an anime adaptation of Solo Leveling Ragnarok. In the best-case scenario, fans get the best of both worlds and get to enjoy both of these amazing works. All they need to do right now is sit back patiently and wait for further updates from the author. The wait may be long, but it seems that even greater times are ok the horizon for the fans of Solo Leveling.
Solo Leveling has two seasons out right now, one with 12 episodes, and the other with 13, for a combined episode count of 25 episodes available to watch right now. Solo Leveling can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
