Summary

  • Their relationship starts one-sided, with Cha Hae-In falling for Jinwoo after working together.
  • The anime is trying to develop their chemistry more naturally compared to the novel and manhwa.
  • Fans debate if Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In are the best couple or if other characters like Lee Johee or Yoo Soohyun would be better options.

The following article contains major spoilers for Solo Leveling and Solo Leveling Ragnarok when it comes to Jinwoo's relationships.

In the midst of many thrilling battles and an action-packed story, Solo Leveling still finds time to feed fans with a little romance — as the Solo Leveling anime progresses, more and more fans want to know if Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In will end up together.

Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In are building a nice relationship of trust and friendship, to say the least. But is the story really building up to a romance or is it just trying to fool the audience?

Their Relationship Is First One-Sided

At first, Cha Hae-In is more interested in Sung Jinwoo than he is interested in her. This is mainly because she has an enhanced smelling ability, and Jinwoo was the first Hunter that smelled nice to her. Other hunters had terrible smells, and she distanced herself from them.

How I could ever tell him...I want you by my side until I draw my last breath?

— Chae Hae-In in Chapter 122 of the webtoon

After learning more about Jinwoo, she eventually falls in love with him. He, on the other hand, is impressed by her strength, and since they are both S-Ranks and she joins his guild, they do missions together — so she is always around. Slowly, he also falls in love with her as well. It's important to note that Jinwoo never just saw her as an S-Rank, but is interested in her for who she really is.

The Anime Is Trying To Show It In A More Natural Way

Solo Leveling Season 2 Removed A Romantic Moment Between Sung Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In

Many fans feel that their relationship is rushed in both the novel and the manhwa. The anime has added more content to make their chemistry work better for the anime audience — and it seems like they're doing it right, even if they sometimes cut out some nice moments.

Anyway, they end up together and, as Solo Leveling Ragnarok has already revealed, they have a son, Suho. However, when get complicated in Ragnarok, they split up, and it's been a long time since they've seen each other — Jinwoo went to fight the Itarim gods while Cha Hae-In spends years in a Gate. So we don't have many interactions between them in the series so far.

Does Jinwoo And Cha Hae-In Really Make A Good Couple?

As mentioned above, many fans feel that Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In should not have ended up together. While they have an interesting dynamic and complementary personalities, many feel that other girls were better options. For example, a good chunk of them believe that Jinwoo and Lee Johee would make a better couple, especially since Johee helped him when he was still an E-Rank.

Others claim that Johee would break soon, as she actually didn't like being a Hunter and mostly did it because few Hunters were healers. While that's true, Jinwoo wouldn't necessarily have to end up with a Hunter, but it would be a hard path, and it is important to understand that Johee is not a bad character, but a victim of this world.

Another potential love interest for Jinwoo will be introduced in the next season: Yoo Soohyun, an A-Rank Hunter. They don't actually have that many scenes together, but hey have become a popular ship, especially due to their personalities. Maybe the anime will give them more screen time together in order to create a romantic tension between Jinwoo, Cha Hae-In and Soohyun.

Where to Watch Solo Leveling

Solo Leveling is streaming on Crunchyroll, subbed and dubbed in many languages. It is also available on Netflix in select countries in Asia, but only with subbed options. It may eventually hit Netflix worldwide if Aniplex licenses the series globally, as they have done with other anime.

Two seasons are available, and fans are waiting for the third season to be announced soon — a producer recently teased that it might come out in 2028. If that's the case, it seems likely that a movie, even a recap movie, will be released in 2026 or 2027.
