This article contains spoilers for Solo Leveling.

No other undead entity comes close to Sung Jinwoo’s shadows in Solo Leveling when it comes to strength and destructive force. While the shadow army is a mix of high and low-grade soldiers, their combined force amplifies Jinwoo’s dominance on the battlefield in unimaginable ways.

This Forgotten Solo Leveling Character Is the First to Know About Jin-Woo's Ability to Level Up

For the first time ever, Sung Jin-Woo reveals he can level up to this forgotten character.

Interestingly, there are shadows in Jinwoo’s army whose individual strength is far greater than that of the others. They can confidently act as extensions of Jinwoo himself with the power to turn the tide of the battle singlehandedly. It’s even possible for them to defeat an S-rank hunter with their overwhelming strength. With that, it’s time to examine the mightiest shadows under Jinwoo’s command in Solo Leveling.

Jima

  • Jima can take down a giant with a single hit.
  • Jima is yet another underrated shadow in Jinwoo’s army, probably due to lack of exposure and late appearance in the series, just like Greed. However, underestimating Jima’s strength would be a mistake, as the shadow of the Boss Naga can one-shot a giant with ease.

In addition, Jima holds a general grade, making him a top-tier shadow before the elite knights and knights like Iron, Tank, and Kaisel. If only he received more fights like Beru and Bellion, Jima’s strength would have matched his impressive general-grade status.

Tusk

  • Tusk’s strongest asset is his destructive magic and shamanistic abilities.

No other shadow can rival Tusk’s magical prowess, though in terms of sheer strength, he falls behind Greed and Kamish. If we stripped him of the Orb of Avarice and his magic, Tusk would lose much of his combat edge. In such a weakened state, even S-rank hunters like Cha Hae-In and Thomas Andre would have a better chance of defeating him.

Still, Tusk’s destructive use of magic makes him a deadly asset in battle. His hymns are incredibly versatile, allowing him to wield nearly every type of spell a fan could imagine. By the end of the series, Tusk can lead three dragons with ease, making him a greater force on the battlefield.

Greed

  • Greed is far superior to most S-rank hunters.

Greed is one of the most underrated shadows in Jinwoo’s army despite his general grade. After all, he is the shadow of Hwang Dong-Soo, who stubbornly antagonized Jinwoo for much of Solo Leveling.

However, Greed is far different from his former self, showing deep respect for Jinwoo and genuine remorse for the offenses he once committed against his master in his human life. Plus, he appears late in the series, giving him no opportunities to impress the readers.

During the Monarchs’ War arc, while most of the shadows had a difficult time freeing themselves from Sillad’s Ice Prison, Greed only had to flex his biceps to break out. This phenomenal display of power is enough to put him high on the list, other than the fact that he was a former S-rank hunter who received an upgrade from Norma Selner.

Kamish

  • Kamish can wipe out multiple foes at once.

It’s a shame that Kamish never truly gets a chance to show off his abilities in Solo Leveling after his short stint as Jinwoo’s temporary shadow in the International Guild Conference Arc. He deserves an intense anime episode, be it a special or OVA, where he can shine as humanity’s worst calamity. After all, it took five S-rank hunters (now national level) just to contain him.

As a red dragon, Kamish possesses immense physical strength and destructive firepower. While it’s unclear just how strong Kamish is in Antares’ army, the fact that he can level battlefields and annihilate multiple foes at once hints at a strength that rivals even the General-grade shadows of Sung Jinwoo.

Beru

  • Beru can clear high-level dungeons by himself.

Beru is the first shadow in Jinwoo’s army to awaken at a general grade, placing him at the top of the army after the Jeju Island arc. Over time, he grew stronger alongside Jinwoo, evolving into a reliable shadow capable of commanding the shadow army.

In fact, Beru can effortlessly clear an A-rank dungeon teeming with twin-headed ogres, death knights, and even an Arch Lich as the final boss. This feat usually requires a team of A- and B-rank hunters, but Beru can simply clear up the dungeon even without support.

In addition, Beru can outpace hunters like Cha Hae-In, crushing her sword effortlessly and leaving her no time to react. In the Monarchs’ War arc, Beru even defied the Queen of Insects, slicing through her fingers in the process. His strength had grown so immense that he could even break free from Sillad’s ice prison.

Igris

  • Full-power Igris can terrify a Monarch.

When it comes to the way of the sword, Igris reigns supreme even over Bellion with a Grand Marshal grade. But even without a sword, Igris is strong enough to overwhelm Sung Jinwoo before he becomes a necromancer and receives the title of Shadow Monarch.

After joining Jinwoo as a shadow, his most remarkable accomplishment was holding the Frost Monarch Sillad at bay, buying time for Jinwoo to come back.

Though Igris’ strength was downplayed for most of Solo Leveling, with Cha Hae-In besting the Red Knight in a solo match and Tusk and Beru outranking him, the removal of Jinwoo’s limiters restored him to his full strength. By the end of Solo Leveling, Igris became stronger than Beru and the others, except for Bellion.

Bellion

  • Bellion is the strongest non-ruler/non-monarch character in Solo Leveling.

Bellion is the only shadow in Sung Jinwoo’s army to ever hold a Grand Marshal rank in Solo Leveling, placing him at the very top of the thousands of soldiers under the Shadow Monarch’s command. He not only served as right-hand to Ashborn but also to Jinwoo, which speaks volumes about his unmatched authority and strength. Besides that, Bellion is also the strongest non-ruler and non-monarch character in the series.

As a Grand-Marshal, Bellion possesses powers almost on par with the Monarchs, which explains why he can easily defeat a marshal-grade shadow like Beru in the final story arcs of the series. The shadow of the Ant King is no match for someone like Bellion, so swatting it away takes barely any effort.
