The story of Solo Leveling starts as Sung Jinwoo and his group adventure into what seemed like a normal D-Rank dungeon, only to find out that it is actually a dangerous and deadly Double Dungeon.
The double dungeon hosted some powerful creatures, and was classified as an S-Rank dungeon. Many of Jinwoo’s team died there when they encountered the giant statues. The ones who did survive, did so thanks to Jinwoo’s wit, as back then, he was one of the weakest Hunters out there.
It’s in the Double Dungeon that the System was first introduced to the story. On the edge of death, Jinwoo was chosen and saved by the System. After that, he unlocked the ability to level up, which is what got him to the level he’s currently at. Leveling up is something only he can do.
