Solo Leveling Might Come Out in 2026 After All

Sota Could Be Hinting at an Early 2026 Release

Solo Leveling has been one of the most popular anime series of recent years, garnering absolutely ridiculous streaming numbers. Not many people thought it would get this big, but it has shattered all expectations.

Nevertheless, for an anime with such good quality, some time is needed in production. The first season of Solo Leveling aired in 2024, while season 2 aired and finished not too long ago in 2025. The main question plaguing fans has been when Solo Leveling season 3 will drop, and as far as that is concerned, there have been a lot of mixed signals, with some even hinting at a 2028 release, which would be three years after the second season.

Sota Furahashi is one of the producers for Solo Leveling, and has been commenting on the matter. Recently, he said that he would like season 3 to coincide with the next Olympics, which when talking about the Summer Olympics, would be in 2028. He also mentioned that this is just his opinion, and at the end of the day, the decision of when Season 3 of Solo Leveling comes out is more up to Kaneko, the other producer, as well as A-1 Pictures. Here’s his exact statement:

“I think more than anyone, I am anxiously awaiting a Season 3! But in truth, between Season 1 and Season 2, 220,000 frames of animation were created. So, if it were up to me, I’d say let’s wait until the next Olympics to see what’s going to happen with Season 3. But I think that’s more up to Kaneko and A-1 Pictures.” - Sota Furahashi

While Sota talks about the next Olympics, specifically the 2028 Olympics, it could also be that he talks about a 2026 release for Season 3. Indeed, in 2026, there will also be the Winter Olympics. The Winter Olympics also coincide pretty closely with the release dates of Seasons 1 and 2 of the anime in past years. The Winter Olympics would be in February of 2026, and would definitely be a perfect date for more impatient fans who don’t want to wait until 2028.

If the anime is released earlier than 2028, fans do, however, hope that quality isn’t compromised, as Sota really emphasizes how much work the Solo Leveling anime needs.
