Go Gun-Hee Is Expected to Die in Solo Leveling Season 3

The End of an Era

The Solo Leveling anime is currently in the middle of an exciting moment, after the final episode ends with Jin-Woo reaching level 100 and acquiring a new formidable shadow, Beru. However, the anime is also in the middle of a difficult phase, as the entire nation of Korea is in mourning due to the deaths of Min Byung-Gu and the many hunters who sacrificed their lives trying to reclaim Jeju Island from the mutated ants.

Shortly after Byung-Gu's death, another S-rank hunter will follow the healer to the afterlife, as revealed in the Solo Leveling manhwa. If season 3 covers the events that will happen during the International Guild Conference arc, another beloved character will die, which will cause pain and loneliness for the fans. Go Gun-Hee’s name is bound to appear on the Grim Reaper’s list sooner or later.

Even so, he remains a powerful hunter who doesn’t look his age.

Before fans pin the blame on Jin-Woo for Go Gun-Hee's untimely death, they should know that the unfortunate incident happened when Jin-Woo was in America, attending an international guild conference. If only Jin-Woo had sensed the enemy sooner, he would have been able to intervene and save the chairman’s life. Unfortunately, Go Gun-Hee's time was over, even though he was only living on borrowed time from the very beginning.

Go Gun-Hee's killer is none other than the Frost Monarch, Sillad, who has been going around the world, hunting vessels one after another. As part of the plan to weaken the Rulers, Sillad visits the chairman at the Korean Hunters Association’s headquarters to kill him. While Go Gun-Hee will be able to fight Sillad, his strength will not be enough, and he will soon find himself fighting for his life.

While Jin-Woo will be able to confront Sillad, he will fail to save Go Gun-Hee. He will even try to use the Elixir of Life in an attempt to save the Chairman, but the latter will refuse treatment, much to Jin-Woo's dismay.

Will Go Gun-Hee Ever Return?

By the end of the Solo Leveling manhwa, after Jin-Woo uses the Cup of Reincarnation and revises the timeline, Go Gun-Hee will return. Most likely, the anime will throw in a brief scene to show the chairman’s new life, similar to the others who will come back to life. He may also return and make a cameo, likely in the final arc where the Shadow Monarch, Ashborn, may use his image to talk to Jin-Woo.

For now, Go Gun-Hee remains alive and well in the Solo Leveling anime. He may have retired from the battlefield, but that doesn’t erase the fact that he’s still a powerful hunter who could fight toe-to-toe with other fighters. As one of the vessels of the Rulers, Go Gun-Hee remains an extraordinary hunter, respected by Sung Jin-Woo.
