Solo Leveling has become a hit in a way that few shows will ever be able to replicate. However, since Solo Leveling Season 2 concluded, fans can't wait for Season 3 to be officially announced. Unfortunately, it looks like they will have to wait a little longer.
But what can we expect from the next season? Well, stunning animation, great soundtrack — basically, we can expect that Solo Leveling to keep doing everything it has been doing right in an even better way. Season 3 will have lots of action, thrilling battles, and the tension that fans love.
Solo Leveling Season 3 Will Feature Jinwoo's Fight Against His Most Vengeful Foe
Solo Leveling Season 3 will feature Jinwoo defeating the most hated character in the entire series. Here's all you need to know about it.
Season 3 Has Everything It Takes To Surpass Season 2
This section contains spoilers for Solo Leveling.
Solo Leveling Season 2 was great, but as the story advances, Season 3 has the potential to surpass it: great battles, the story reaching its climax, stunning animation, and even a little romance.
They say that there is a point of fame that, once reached, there is no turning back — Solo Leveling may well be at that moment. So there's no reason to believe that the production team won't continue to invest heavily in it, and the animation will probably be even better than Season 2.
Season 3 will surely cover the Japan Crisis arc, one of the best arcs. It starts when an S-Rank gate opens in Japan and brings many problems to the country — there are amazing battles, but also many deaths. Of course, Jinwoo goes to Japan to clear this gate, and he has much more to accomplish in the next seasons.
Will Season 3 Be The Last?
While there are still six arcs to be adapted (plus the epilogue), depending on the pace of the next season, it could very well be the last one — Solo Leveling will likely last for one or two more seasons. The remaining arcs are as follows:
|
Arc |
Novel Chapters |
Manhwa Chapters |
|
Ahjin Guild Arc |
136–150 |
111–122 |
|
Double Dungeon Arc |
150–164 |
123–131 |
|
Japan Crisis Arc |
165–182 |
132–139 |
|
International Guild Conference Arc |
183–199 |
140–149 |
|
Monarchs War Arc |
200–224 |
150–166 |
|
Final Battle Arc |
225–243 |
167–177 |
|
Epilogue |
244–270 |
178–179 |
The anime has been quite fast-paced so far, but since Season 3 hasn't even been officially confirmed, it's not known yet if it will be the last. Also, given that the anime uses the manhwa as an important reference, it may also adapt the Academy arc, a post-epilogue arc that is original to the manhwa. In this case, the chances of Season 3 being the Final Season are much lower than if the story only follows the original arcs.
Could Season 3 Be Turned Into Movies?
Another important thing to keep in mind, which may be related to how much content is left to be adapted, is that at least part of the remaining arcs could be adapted into movies. The recap of the first season had a fairly good commercial reception worldwide, considering what's usual for the anime niche, and there are reasons to believe that a movie with the final arc of the story would be a major hit.
Since Solo Leveling is produced by Aniplex, they may be waiting to see how the first movie of the Demon Slayer: The Infinity Castle trilogy performs to properly decide what to do next with Solo Leveling.
When Will Season 3 Be Released?
Solo Leveling Season 3 has not yet been officially announced, but rumor has it that the production team is already working on the continuation of Season 2. If that is true, it is probably still in pre-production.
As mentioned above, they might still be deciding how to handle the remaining arcs. Furthermore, the director is busy with other projects right now, and that might slow things down a little.
Do you know Dragon Ball's Genki-dama (Spirit Bomb)? We need your energy! If we’re going to make a Season 3, it’s going to take all the support and energy from the fans. I learned that from Akira Toriyama himself! May the great Akira Toriyama Rest in Peace.
— Solo Leveling producers about Season 3
Furuhata later teased that Season 3 would only be released in 2018 — and that's actually great news. With so much time to work on it, they can make sure that Season 3 will be incredible and live up to the hype. Also, it could mean that they plan to release a movie between Season 2 and Season 3.
Whether it's a season or a collection of movies, the next entry in the Solo Leveling anime is likely to be a massive hit and take over the Internet. It's certainly only a matter of time before it's officially announced.
Solo Leveling is available to stream on Crunchyroll, subbed and dubbed in many languages.
