The third episode started with Sung Jin-woo meeting Yoo Jin-Ho. They had completed 19 raids, which meant Yoo Jin-Ho could apply for the position of a guild master. Yoo Jin-Ho told Sung Jin-woo about his strenuous relationship with his older brother and how he wanted the hero to be his elder sibling. Toward the end of the conversation, Sung Jin-woo told Yoo Jin-hoo that he would think of him as his younger brother.

Solo Leveling season 2 episode 3 was primarily focused on Sung Jin-woo as he decided to tackle the hellish dungeon that would give him access to the Elixir of Life. Before leaving, Sung Jin-woo informed Jin-ah about going away for a week. She presumed that her older brother might be going with someone else. After a near-death experience with the Cerebrus, Sung Jin-woo knew that he needed to stock up on rations and level up so that the other monsters in the dungeon wouldn't trouble him.

His first objective was to collect 10,000 demon souls. At first, it seemed like an easy task, but defeating so many demons proved to be physically and mentally draining for the protagonist. Sung Jin-woo decided to use the shadow soldiers, including the leader of the ice bears, whom he named Tank.

Sung Jin-woo faced his first major challenge on the 50th floor in the form of the Avaricious Vulcan. It towered over Sung Jin-woo and every other individual on the floor. Despite its size, the Avaricious Vulcan could move at extremely fast speeds, which even caught the hero off-guard. However, Sung Jin-woo used his intelligence to lure the Avaricious Vulcan into a trap and ended the fight in one swift stroke. After beating the enemy, he received the World Tree Fragment, which was described as:

  • Purified wood from vulcan's club which was made with a branch cut from the world tree.

Sung Jin-woo's next enemy was Metus, the guide of souls whom he encountered on the 75th floor. The fight was fairly straightforward, and the hero wrapped things up quickly. Upon beating the enemy, he received Spring Water, which is another ingredient for crafting the Elixir of Life. He also got two pieces of a unique set. Unfortunately, he ran out of supplies, so he decided to head back home. Sung Jin-woo also realized that he only needed to beat one more monster to obtain the final ingredient for the Elixir of Life.

Hwang Dong-soo Tastes Defeat At The Hands Of The New Character

A new character was introduced in the episode. He was wearing worn-out clothes and unkempt hair. His appearance made it clear that he had ended up on the wrong side of the world. After being arrested by hunters on the suspicion of being a magical beast, the mysterious man had to wait until Hwang Dong-soo arrived.

Mr. Hwang was defeated. Faster than the damage could spread.

The enigmatic individual talked to Hwang Dong-soo and inquired about humanity's knowledge of gates and magical beasts. Eventually, his name was revealed to be Sung Il-Hwan. Hwang Dong-soo continued to ask him questions, and things took a turn for the worse when he inquired about his son. Sung Il-Hwan told him that his son's name was Jin-woo. This angered Hwang Dong-soo, who decided to attack but regretted it after being completely pulverized by Sung Il-Hwan.
