Solo Leveling Season 2 Cut Out Yoo Soo-Hyun Entirely

There’s No Sign of Yoo Soo-Hyun in Season 2

Solo Leveling season 2 covers six story arcs from the manhwa, starting from the Red Gate arc to the Jeju Island arc. However, Yoo Soo-Hyun, who is supposed to debut in the Hunters Guild Gate arc right before the Return to the Demon Castle arc based on the events of the manhwa, does not make the cut. Her scenes with Yoo Jin-Ho are skipped, completely erasing her from the events of the second season.

In the manhwa, Yoo Soo-Hyun makes her debut by the end of chapter 67. For context, she is an A-rank hunter and, at the same time, a popular model and actress, much like Lee Min-Sung of the Fiend Guild. However, Yoo Soo-Hyun is more active in the entertainment industry than in the hunter world. She is also Yoo Jin-Ho's cousin, who is widely known as one of Jin-Woo’s closest friends in the series.

Yoo Soo-Hyun's Skipped Scene in Season 2

Yoo Soo-Hyun should have appeared somewhere in Solo Leveling season 2 episode 5, “This Is What We’re Trained to Do,” based on her debut in the manhwa. This was when she agreed to meet with Yoo Jin-Ho to listen to his frustrations about life and about Jin-Woo while eating pork belly together. She wore a cap and a jacket, likely to keep a low profile while hanging out with her cousin in a public place.

Throughout the scene, Jin-Ho ranted to Yoo Soo-Hyun about Jin-Woo not answering his calls for an entire week. He also told her that his father had finally agreed to give him the guild master position in their company's guild. In the middle of the conversation, she noticed a news report about the actor Lee Min-Sung on the television and went on to reveal some unfavorable things about him. At the end of the scene, she dialed Jin-Woo’s number using Jin-Ho’s cellphone, and the call finally went through.

Why Did Solo Leveling Season 2 Leave Out Yoo Soo-Hyun?

Her Significance to the Plot

Perhaps the most likely reason why Yoo Soo-Hyun was removed in the second season is that she’s not yet relevant to the plot. Her brief scene with Jin-Ho doesn’t significantly drive the plot forward in the second season, especially when compared to the other scenes that were included.

Most likely, Yoo Soo-Hyun will appear in Solo Leveling season 3, somewhere in the Ahjin Guild arc, where her presence will be needed. After all, she will be the only female hunter able to join the Ahjin Guild thanks to Yoo Jin-Ho's invitation. Despite Cha Hae-In's persistence to join Jin-Woo's guild, Yoo Soo-Hyun will take her spot. Her presence in Jin-Woo's life will also bring out a different side of Cha Hae-In that the audience has yet to see from her character in the first two seasons.

Will Yoo Soo-Hyun Appear in Solo Leveling Season 3?

It’s Entirely Possible

As mentioned above, there’s a strong chance that Yoo Soo-Hyun will make her anime debut in Solo Leveling season 3, particularly during the Ahjin Guild arc. If so, Yoo Jin-Ho recommends she join the Ahjin guild because she is not an active hunter and has no interest in hunting in general. In other words, Yoo Soo-Hyun fits the criteria that Jin-Woo wants for the third member of the guild, making her the complete opposite of Cha Hae-In.

For now, fans can at least anticipate Yoo Soo-Hyun's appearance in Solo Leveling Season 3, given how relevant she will be in the Ahjin Guild arc. However, the anime could still cut or downplay her scenes for the sake of pacing and run time, similar to how scenes were omitted in the first two seasons. Hopefully, anime-only fans will get to meet her sometime in the future episodes of the third season.
