Solo Leveling has become an iconic series all over the world, especially since the anime adaptation of this brilliant story began. Jinwoo's exciting battle-filled story took the world by storm from Solo Leveling Season 1, but its success reached new heights following the release of Season 2. This success, in big part, is thanks to Solo Leveling’s newest anime arc, the Jeju Island Arc.
The main fight of the arc, Jinwoo vs Ant King, could even be considered the best anime battle of 2025, but an even better arc was recently serialized in Solo Leveling: Ragnarok. Solo Leveling Ragnarok’s S Rank Gate Raid is currently ongoing, and it could be said to be the new and improved Jeju Island Arc, revolving instead around Jinwoo’s son, Sung Suho.
Solo Leveling Ragnarok’s S Rank Gate Raid Is Reminiscent of Jeju Island From The Original Solo Leveling
Solo Leveling: Ragnarok’s manhwa has delivered some incredibly exciting chapters over the last year, especially in the newest story arc. Recently went on an indefinite hiatus, but before that, fans saw the beginning of an absolutely stunning arc that has taken the whole fandom by storm, which some refer to as the S Rank Gate Raid. This arc has drawn many comparisons to Solo Leveling’s Jeju Island arc. Beru, the former Ant King himself, commented on the new S-Gate that appeared in South Korea. He explained to others how he too was once the boss of one such gate before, referencing the Jeju Island incident where he was the main enemy.
Solo Leveling: Ragnarok also made an obvious reference to Solo Leveling Jeju Arc’s most iconic scene. In the original series, Sung Jinwoo and the Ant King stood tall face to face, exuded immense aura. This scene was remade with Sung Suho and Thomas Andre in Solo Leveling: Ragnarok chapter 64. While the manhwa is on break right now, fans are definitely excited to see how this full arc unfolds later down the line when it does make a comeback with a new artist. Needless to say, the expectations are definitely high.
Solo Leveling Ragnarok’s S Rank Gate Raid Improves Upon Jeju Island
The Jeju Island Arc of Solo Leveling is, unsurprisingly, a huge fan favorite. The hype for this arc only multiplied after the amazing adaptation that was provided by the anime. However, while Jeju Island was great, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok’s current arc might just be even better.
Solo Leveling Ragnarok’s S Rank Gate Raid has a lot more going for it, as it will tie in many plot points it has previously introduced in the story, and build on Suho's story in an incredibly exciting manner. Added to that is the fact that there will be incredible battles, with a far more exciting cast involved this time around. In Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, fans will also get to see an interesting rivalry between Sung Suho and Thomas Andre, a National Level Hunter from the USA. In comparison, the Jeju Island Raid was a simpler story, with some interesting elements added from the political tension with Japan.
The Original Solo Leveling Anime Will Have Better Arcs Surpassing The Jeju Island Arc
Even in the original Solo Leveling universe, it can easily be said that the Jeju Island arc is far from being the story’s best. While it’s definitely a fan favorite, especially now, due to the anime, there are better Solo Leveling arcs that have yet to be animated. The upcoming Solo Leveling Season 3 should feature some heavy hitters, such as the Double Dungeon arc, and it will certainly be fascinating to see unfold when adapted. The future arcs will see Sung Jinwoo reach new heights of power and face off against iconic enemies, all the while finding out deeper secrets of the world.
Among all the incredible arcs will also be the Monarchs War Arc. The monarchs will finally be properly introduced, and will deliver some of the best battles and tragedies of Solo Leveling. Jinwoo is sure to get some of his best character moments in this very arc and fans can't wait for it to unfold.
