This article contains spoilers for Solo Leveling.

Solo Leveling was recently voted anime of the year, and that's not too much of a surprise to any fan, given that both its seasons were highly successful. The series doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Right now, all fans are waiting for Solo Leveling Season 3, and hopefully, Jinwoo gets some much-needed character development. While Jinwoo's return might take some time, fans would do well to use the time and invest it in other manga protagonists, and one character is definitely far better than him.

Jinwoo Stars In Solo Leveling

Best Manhwa Protagonist Sung Jinwoo Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint

Solo Leveling has quickly become the best-known anime adaptation of a manhwa series. The sudden success of this series has definitely surprised many, including the staff themselves, such as producers who have worked on this series, like Atsushi Kaneko. Kaneko’s surprise is understandable, given the fact that Solo Leveling is just another anime in Japan, and that fans don't consider it special there.

“While thrilled with the response, I personally don't feel like the series is known by everyone at this point. Solo Leveling isn't as universally recognized in Japan yet. As a Japanese person living in Japan, the anime is not at the level of Dragon Ball, One Piece, or Naruto. But if season three happens, that’s when I want to truly break that boundary.” - Atsushi Kaneko

When speaking globally, Solo Leveling, and in turn, Sung Jinwoo, have become quite the household names. Sung Jinwoo and his series did amazingly during the Crunchyroll Awards, where, aside from winning Anime of the Year, the Best Main Character Award was also given to Jinwoo. This is all very impressive, and goes to show just how popular Jinwoo is. It is even more impressive when considering the fact that he was up against characters like Frieren and Maomao.

At the moment, no Manhwa can really compete with Solo Leveling. Its anime adaptation was simply that good. But, some series definitely have the potential to surpass it, especially if adapted properly. One of these series is, undoubtedly, Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint. This series is very popular, and its main character, Kim Dokja, is a character many would argue is far better than Jinwoo.

Jinwoo isn’t a bad character by any means, but it’s hard to turn a blind eye to how underdeveloped he is, and how much of his popularity is purely based on his strength and cool demeanor. Kim Dokja is a far more compelling character, and his role in Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint shows that. Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint could definitely compete with Solo Leveling, if given the chance. Especially as it offers fans a far more interesting story, and more complex characters.
