This article contains spoilers from the Solo Leveling manhwa.
Solo Leveling hasn’t released any new episodes after Season 2 ended, but the excitement for Sung Jin-Woo's romantic development with Cha Hae-In proves that romance in Solo Leveling is just as captivating as its battles.
While Cha Hae-In is falling in love with Jin-Woo, the strongest hunter in Korea remains distant. It’s getting more difficult to reach Jin-Woo's heart, but Cha Hae-In continues to fight for a place in his world, no matter how impossible it feels.
Solo Leveling: Why the Chemistry Between Cha Hae-In and Sung Jin-Woo Just Works
Sung Jin-Woo and Cha Hae-In’s chemistry stands out thanks to the genuine moments they share in the high-stakes world they inhabit.
Jin-Woo Is Not Yet Ready to Date Cha Hae-In in Solo Leveling Season 3
Jin-Woo Isn’t Interested in Love and Romance for Now
- Jin-Woo is not interested in pursuing Cha Hae-In at the moment.
- It's difficult for Jin-Woo to start dating Cha Hae-In.
Many girls, regardless of whether they are hunters or civilians, are attracted to Sung Jin-Woo not only because of his handsome looks but also because of his monstrous powers and abilities capable of protecting anyone. Cha Hae-In is no exception, as Korea's Ninth S-Rank Hunter is infatuated with Jin-Woo's strength, unwavering resolve, and mysterious aura that surrounds him.
However, while Cha Hae-In has fallen in love with Jin-Woo, the latter has no plans of pursuing any romantic relationship at the moment. He may have a few love interests who admire him from afar, but Jin-Woo remains distant, driven solely by his goal to grow stronger, find out the truth about the System, and protect the people he cares about. This won’t change in Solo Leveling Season 3, no matter how strong Cha Hae-In's feelings for Jin-Woo grow.
Unlike other anime protagonists who have time for love and romance, Jin-Woo would rather spend his free time training, grinding levels, or managing his formidable shadow army. He never lets his guard down, knowing full well that one moment of vulnerability could cost him everything, from his life to his shadow army to the world he swore to protect. Unfortunately, Cha Hae-In would have to be more patient and understanding before Jin-Woo could ever open his heart to someone.
Jin-Woo Will Be Suspicious of Cha Hae-In's Actions
Jin-Woo Won’t Accept Cha Hae-In in the Ahjin Guild
- Jin-Woo doesn't understand Cha Hae-In's motivations to join Ahjin Guild.
- Jin-Woo rejects Cha Hae-In's application and chooses another guild member.
In Jin-Woo's eyes, Cha Hae-In is still an outsider who could cause trouble for him if he lets his guard down. His previous experiences with fellow hunters have taught him that trust can be dangerous, and attachments can turn fatal in the blink of an eye. Having witnessed greed, betrayal, and death from day one, Jin-Woo has learned his lesson not to easily accept anyone into his circle.
That said, Cha Hae-In's sudden decision to join Jin-Woo's guild and abandon her post as Vice-Master of the Hunters Guild is a major red flag. She’s earning so much from her current guild, but she’s willing to leave it all behind just to be with Jin-Woo. Such reckless action raises serious questions about her true intentions, which Jin-Woo himself can’t ignore.
Why are you overdoing it? There's no need to go so far to join our guild.—Jin-Woo to Cha Hae-In
Because of this, Jin-Woo rejecting Cha Hae-In's application to the Ahjin Guild is inevitable. He doesn’t want a suspicious hunter like Cha Hae-In in his guild, especially with the current state of the world. Instead, he would rather choose a low-key hunter with zero interest in raiding dungeons just to be safe. While Cha Hae-In may be the ideal guild member on paper, Jin-Woo prioritizes control above all else.
Jin-Woo and Cha Hae-In Are Officially Endgame
Jin-Woo and Cha Hae-In's Romance Is Inevitable
- Jin-Woo and Cha Hae-In end up marrying each other.
- Jin-Woo and Cha Hae-In are a slow-burn anime couple.
Despite the painfully slow development between Cha Hae-In and Jin-Woo, it’s that very slowness that makes their love story worth waiting for. When two hunters carry so much weight on their shoulders, especially on Jin-Woo's part, love isn’t something that happens overnight.
Unlike typical anime couples that rush into romance, Jin-Woo and Cha Hae-In's relationship gradually develops after a few life-or-death moments. Their journey may have been long and tiring, but the endgame promises to be worth it. However, fans should not expect much, considering there are little to no traditional romantic payoffs in Solo Leveling.
From the beginning, fans are made aware that romance is not a central focus in Jin-Woo's rise to power, but that doesn’t mean it's absent altogether. Still, it’s best to manage expectations, especially in Solo Leveling Season 3, as Jin-Woo and Cha Hae-In deal with threats bigger than magical beasts emerging from the Gates.
