Solo Leveling’s Creator Wants To Write a “What If” Story
It Would Be A Romance Story Between Jinwoo and Joohee
Sung Jinwoo is the main character of Solo Leveling, and, as such it’s normal that he has a few characters that he is often shipped with. In this case, the two biggest characters fans like to see with him are Cha Hae-In and Joohee. Both of these characters have expressed some kind of feelings toward Jinwoo, and one can say they both had a very good chance of ending with him.
As fans of the Manhwa already know, however, Sung Jinwoo’s canon ending is known, and he ends up with Cha Hae-In, while Joohee gets somewhat forgotten in the grand scheme of things.
Joohee just couldn’t keep up with what was happening in the Solo Leveling story, and her weakness held her back even more. In other words, she didn’t have much hope for an ending with Jinwoo from the get-go.
The creator of Solo Leveling, Chugong, has, however, confirmed that the two of them had a romance going on. Here’s what he had to say:
“Joohee's mental health was very weak and therefore couldn't handle the path Jinwoo would be going forward. […] Jinwoo did have feelings for Joohee before they went their separate ways.
To give more details, Joohee was one of the characters who represent the victims of the abnormal world.
She was originally supposed to live life as a University Student, but such a weak-hearted girl had somehow obtained a power that didn't fit her and had settled into the abnormal world unwillingly.
During the Ending of Solo Leveling, Jinwoo's goal was to turn the abnormal world back to normal. Therefore, Joohee was able to forget about her life in the abnormal world and go back to living as a normal girl. And Jinwoo, who was able to confirm this and was happy for her.
This was the message I wanted to convey, but it looks like I didn't exactly write it as good to have the readers understand this.” — Chugong
Solo Leveling: Will Joo-Hee Return in Season 3?
Lee Joo-Hee appears in the first two seasons, but will she return in Solo Leveling season 3?
Chugong definitely wished he did more with Joohee’s character, and that’s the most unfortunate part for fans of this couple.
The best part here, however, is that Chugong has expressed wanting to write a “what if” story where Sung Jinwoo’s romance with Joohee flourished, and where he ended up with her instead of Cha Hae-In. This would definitely be an incredible story that fans would be more than excited to read, especially as who Jinwoo ends with dramatically impacts the sequel of the series, Ragnarok. Fans could potentially get a look at Jinwoo’s alternative child that he would have with Joohee.
For now, however, this is just an idea he has expressed wanting to delve into, and Chugong might just never get to it, so fans should keep that in mind.
