Despite starting his Hunter career as an E-Rank in Solo Leveling, once Jin-Woo gains access to the System, this is when everything changes for him. He slowly develops new abilities to use throughout dungeons, and quickly becomes the strongest Hunter by far. He easily surpasses the rest of his teammates with his god-like abilities.
However, some of these abilities, in particular, are much stronger than the others, taking him from strong to completely unstoppable. These power-ups have even allowed him to easily defeat incredibly formidable enemies like the Ant King without much difficulty. Here are the top 6 power-ups gained by Sung Jin-Woo in Solo Leveling.
Monarch's Domain
Control Shadow Soldiers
- Allows Jin-Woo to increase the strength of his Shadow Soldiers
- Obtains Shadow Soldiers through defeated enemies
- Gives Jin-Woo a large advantage in battle
Even though Jin-Woo, on his own, is incredibly powerful, once he gains the ability to extract Shadow Soldiers and have them aid him in battle, this takes his abilities to the next level. Other than just having backup support, Jin-Woo can also utilize Monarch's Domain, which increases the strength of every active Shadow Soldier by 50 percent.
Not only does their strength increase, but they will also improve significantly in coordination, defense, durability, and more. Having these Shadow Soldiers on his side takes off some of the weight for Jin-Woo. He is able to focus on the main boss more easily as he knows he has backup and protection in case anything happens.
Black Heart
Glowing Heart Item
Increases Jin-Woo's Mana
- Belonged to Ashborn
- Makes Jin-Woo almost indefeatable
- Increases Mana significantly
Although the Black Heart is technically an item, it's a power-up that Jin-Woo receives as it's handed down to him from the previous owner, the original Shadow Monarch Ashborn. It's a glowing purple heart that, when activated, will increase the user's Mana by 100,000. This essentially gives the user almost infinite Mana in battle.
Solo Leveling: 21 Strongest Characters In The Manhwa, Ranked
From the Absolute Being to Sung Jin-Woo, the Shadow Monarch, Solo Leveling has remarkably powerful characters.
This power-up prevents Jin-Woo from running out of Mana in battle, allowing him to use just about any ability and summon Shadow Soldiers. The Black Heart also shows just how powerful Jin-Woo has become as the next Shadow Monarch. It's almost impossible for any other Hunter to be able to compare to him at this point.
Dragon's Fear
Manipulates the Enemy's Mind
- Jin-Woo releases an intense shout
- Causes enemies to panic
- Can only be used when battling alone
Dragon's Fear is one of Jin-Woo's debuff abilities, where he releases an intense Mana-infused shout that immediately makes any enemy weaker than him panic and put into a state of despair. Since Jin-Woo is stronger than the vast majority of his enemies, he can utilize this on practically anyone.
However, it can also affect any allies nearby that are weaker, so Jin-Woo can only really use it when battling enemies alone. As this essentially causes the enemy to mentally collapse and freeze in place, Jin-Woo can use this to his advantage and take them out without any retaliation.

Shadow Monarch Awakening
Jin-Woo's New Ability to Control Shadow Soldiers
- Jin-Woo becomes the successor of Ashborn
- Gains multiple abilities related to Shadows

Power to Level Up
Player of the System
- Allows Jin-Woo to level up
- Includes increasing his experience, stats, and skills
- Breaks the Hunter system
When someone becomes a Hunter in Solo Leveling, their rank and strength are usually fixed, and won't change much even if they train.
