2025’s first half was absolutely packed with incredible anime, and fans have enjoyed them to the fullest, but there are a few that stand out far more than the others. Of course, the anime of the year, Solo Leveling, is one of them. It would be disingenuous to say that Solo Leveling didn't have a massive impact on anime fans all over the world this year.

Japan might see Solo Leveling as just another anime, but the global audience thinks it's absolutely stellar, and has been talking about it nonstop. While Solo Leveling truly did deliver phenomenal quality this year, it was still not able to secure a record that another series did, and according to many, this new series deserves to be the real anime of the year.

Solo Leveling enjoyed a very strong 2025, thanks to its Season 2, which dropped earlier this year. Solo Leveling had a 12-episode run and it showcased some of the most interesting parts of the whole story, such as the Jeju Island arc, which many consider to be one of the very best in the story.

Solo Leveling Season 2 gave the fans a solid look at this arc, focusing on Jinwoo's evolution as the Shadow Monarch, and simultaneously growing in terms of fame in the world of Hunters.
Solo Leveling Season 2 was a very well-rounded product, and that is one of the reasons why it ended up winning Anime of the Year at the Crunchyroll Awards earlier this year. On top of being the Anime of the Year, Solo Leveling also went on to take home the award of Best Main Character, thanks to Sung Jinwoo. The series also won some other awards, but all that matters is that it ended up being incredibly successful.

What's absolutely incredible about this series is the fact that it managed to do the unthinkable, and that is to have all its episodes attain a rating of 9 or higher on IMDb.
Say Goodbye To Solo Leveling Season 3, And Welcome 3 Better Returning Anime
Solo Leveling season 3 is in a shaky position. These other series will have far better returns.
Of course, the length of the anime also comes into play here. After all, Takopi's Original Sin only has 6 episodes in total. But, regardless of that, every single episode was a solid 9/10 at the very least. Even an anime as successful as Solo Leveling couldn't achieve this.
Fans Want Takopi's Original Sin To Be The Next Anime Of The Year
Given its amazing performance and the fact that it achieved something that not even Solo Leveling did, fans want Takopi's Original Sin to win Anime of the Year. Of course, it is unfortunate that the series isn't as big as Solo Leveling, fame-wise. Those who did watch it, however, know that it far surpasses Solo Leveling.
