Fans of the popular MOBA Smite have an entirely new game to sink their teeth into, with Smite 2 dropping its 24/7 alpha test on August 27, 2024, in the lead up to their 2025 free-to-play release. If you've put some hard-earned time, effort, and resources into mastering some of the many gods in Smite, then you'll want to know how you are rewarded for your loyalty to the franchise.
As an acknowledgment to the huge community supporting Smite, the team at Titan Forge Games have included a Legacy Gems system in Smite 2, which will grant players a head start on earning currency when they launch the latest title. If you wish to know how to get Legacy Gems in Smite 2 so you can start purchasing your favorite gods or cosmetics, then this guide will explain how it's done.
What Are Legacy Gems In Smite 2?
As the term "legacy" would suggest, to acquire Legacy Gems in Smite 2 requires having put some hours into the original game in the series. Since the team at Titan Forge Games won't be moving all content from the original Smite to the sequel, they have introduced Legacy Gems as a means of rewarding long-time players for their commitment to the popular MOBA.
Legacy Gems are the culmination of all the gems you ever consumed (either purchased yourself or earned for free) in the original Smite game, so for every single gem you've ever spent in Smite, you will earn a Legacy Gem in Smite 2. They operate in a way that your gems from the first game will cover 50% of your in-game purchases on the new gods in Smite 2 and the fan favorites from the original until you have used them all up. So expect that all purchases you make while you have Legacy Gems will be halved.
How To Get Legacy Gems In Smite 2
Legacy Gems will automatically be awarded to existing Smite players once they launch the game, but they will first need to link their account from Smite to Smite 2. Thankfully, this is a relatively simple process.
One option you have to link your accounts is to go to the official website of Smite 2 and click on the Link Accounts button. From there, simply follow the prompts and enter your Smite account details on the platform it's on. Alternatively, you can also visit the Divine Legacy menu in-game from the Smite home page, and enter your details on the right side of the screen. If the link is successful, a green tick will appear on the Divine Legacy screen.
If you purchase the Founders Edition of Smite 2, you'll get double the amount of Legacy Gems.
