All Tolfdir's Alembic Locations in Skyrim
Once you have completed the Hitting the Books quest for the College of Winterhold, you can begin the Tolfdir the Absent-Minded quest. To do this, visit Tolfdir, which can be either in the Hall of Attainment or the Hall of the Elements. This mage will look confused and ask you to find his Alembic. Of course, he can use another Alembic, but his own has a certain sentimental value. In any case, the item you need is located randomly in one of three locations in the College of Winterhold. Luckily, all the locations are in the Hall of Countenance, so you won't have to go far to find the item.
