While The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is ridiculously easy to mod, with an unprecedented community of creators that have built extensive additions to the game that rival officially released expansion packs, its fanbase seems to be yearning for something different altogether. No doubt spurred on by the popularity of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Skyrim players are wondering just how feasible a LEGO adaptation of an Elder Scrolls game would be and what it might look like.

Given how many editions of Skyrim have been released during the game's lifespan, from Legendary to Anniversary Editions, a LEGO spinoff version wouldn't be the most outlandish idea. Creating one's character, building one's homestead out in the wilderness – these are all concepts that exist in Skyrim and could seamlessly transition into the world of studs and bricks.

The discussion was sparked on Reddit a week ago by KoolKbeludo who posted a screenshot of a hypothetical character creation screen featuring LEGO-style versions of an Argonian and Altmer, In the screenshot, the famous Skyrim intro was recreated with the horse cart that carried the Dragonborn and Ulfric Stormcloak seen in the background of Helgen.

Dragon Shouts in Skyrim turning enemies into loose bricks, Ralof waking the player up with an alarm clock, studcrabs, bricks of Barenziah – the community had a lot of fun coming up with ideas on how a LEGO Skyrim game would look and feel like. Many came to the conclusion that even though the concept sounded ridiculous at first, it had a lot of potential.

Traveller's Tales has no doubt had plenty of experience in translating various intellectual properties into the LEGO world while maintaining their charm, and given its recent forays into open-world concepts, the company would be able to replicate the sandbox nature that the Elder Scrolls games are known for. In a hypothetical scenario where a LEGO Elder Scrolls title would get made, the developers of Traveller's Tales would almost certainly be the best choice to helm the project.

Though it's highly unlikely that Traveller's Tales would collaborate with Bethesda on a project such as this, it is nonetheless an interesting idea worth more than what it seems at first glance. Considering that LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is closer to an open-world roleplaying game than any other of its predecessors, the genre has proven to have the potential to provide a more in-depth experience in terms of building one's character and exploring the world in a non-linear fashion.

Skyrim is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
