One lucky The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim player has had the unique opportunity to capture one of the rarest moments in the game. It's a simple moment, but it shines as a small piece of Skyrim game footage to watch over and over.

Skyrim has been very popular since its release in 2011 mainly due to its passionate modding community. Over the years, secrets have been uncovered as well as how to find some of the rarest items in Skyrim, but this particular moment brings an unexpected perspective on the wildlife.

Reddit user MeanWay3331 shared a post containing a clip of them playing Skyrim. The clip shows the view of their Dragonborn as they stand on top of a cliff at the edge of a mountain as an eagle glides through the sky, slowly approaching the Dragonborn before finally touching down in the nest right in front of them.

Eagles are a staple of the Skyrim landscape, soaring above players as they wander in towns and sometimes being mistaken as dragons. Their presence in the game is mostly for world-building, being shot down for arrow crafting with a certain mod, and contributing to a Skyrim player's stealth skills.

It's fascinating to see this rare moment and how it fits into the overall world of Skyrim further cementing that it is a living, breathing universe. Rare moments in Skyrim are hard to come by but are truly a treat once found. Even those who hadn't thought of trying to find the nest of an eagle just to see where and how they land would be interested in this clip just to see the end result and judge for themselves what they see.

While this might be interesting to some, others might find the end results of this clip a little disappointing, since the render of the eagle only shows it fold up like paper and hovering in the nest. It’s well known that Skyrim’s vanilla graphics are a little dated if mods aren’t being used. Though they have been slightly improved in the Skyrim Special Edition, it’s to be expected that they didn’t render a better animation for a hawk landing in a nest. That being said, these creatures were normally meant to be seen from far off in the sky, so some leeway can be given to Bethesda in that regard.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
