Summary

  • Skyrim mods add variety to gameplay, featuring bizarre enemies like Sugar Atronachs and Cheese Draugrs.
  • The Sweetroll Randomization Act mod introduces different sweetroll variations with unique buffs.
  • The mod allows for the spawning of a rare Sweet Troll variant and a Daedric Sweetroll with new spells.

A player highlights one of the strangest mods in Skyrim that not only adds some variety to Tamriel's famous sweetrolls, but also spawns hostile Sweet Trolls in the wilderness. While many fans consider Skyrim to be the best Bethesda game in the Creation Engine era, an argument could be made that its modding community has played an equal part in its enduring popularity. From ambitious projects such as Bruma to modern graphical overhauls, Skyrim has no shortage of mods that can meaningfully enhance a playthrough.

Most Skyrim mods tend to favor a loose adherence to the lore of The Elder Scrolls franchise, but some choose to prioritize fun above all – often by adding bizarre variants of enemies, such as the Sugar Atronach, Cheese Draugr, or even Posh Mudcrabs. While they tend to be more niche by design, these mods hold a special place in the Skyrim community.

The mod highlighted by Shaza33 on the Skyrim subreddit certainly falls into the same category, as it completely overhauls the sweetroll – arguably the most iconic dessert in all of Tamriel. The Sweetroll Randomization Act adds different variations of the sweetroll, each providing different buffs to the Dragonborn, and it also introduces a simple but effective addiction system. However, the mod also makes an amusing change to the trolls of Skyrim by allowing a rare Sweet Troll variant to spawn when wandering through the Nord province.

Skyrim Mod Introduces a Sweet Troll Who Drops Sweetrolls

The Sweet Troll shown in the post can drop a Daedric Sweetroll. Consuming the dessert gives the player a new spell in Skyrim, capable of turning any living target into a pile of sweetrolls. The Sweetroll Randomization Act also has a high polygon version for players to download and is fully customizable with a mod configuration menu. While the Sweet Troll is an amusing aspect of the mod, the different types of sweetroll arguably provide the most gameplay value. For example, eating the Painted Sweetroll fortifies and restores Magicka, while the Spectral Sweetroll gives Invisibility for 60 seconds.

The Sweetroll Randomization Act is by no means a new mod, and the author has kept it regularly updated over the years, with the latest version released on June 10, 2023. As Skyrim approaches its thirteenth anniversary, Bethesda continues its work on the next Elder Scrolls game, which will hopefully allow proper mod support shortly after launch. Though not much is known about the sequel to Skyrim, the latest rumors point towards a release window in late 2026.
