A creative fan of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim has just uploaded a new mod that adds prehistoric raptors into the action role-playing game. Even though the time period and setting of Skyrim may not suit dinosaurs, fans of the creatures will likely enjoy the impressive mod made by their fellow player.
The game's community is probably not surprised to see new mods for Skyrim popping up from time to time. Bethesda has yet to give any updates about The Elder Scrolls 6, so it does not seem strange that players of the 2011 action RPG continue to create tweaks and improvements that will keep their playthrough fresh or interesting. Though there are a lot of mods that vastly improve Skyrim's vanilla graphics settings, there are other mods, like this prehistoric raptor one, that provide additional interesting content for fellow players to appreciate.
On NexusMods, user BirbWalker21 recently uploaded a new mod that adds prehistoric raptors to a player's Skyrim save. According to the upload, the mod can also be used with the action RPG's special edition as well. When implemented into the game, players will see three different raptors — the Forest, Alpine, and Plains Raptor — in and around the lands of Skyrim. The creator shared that the Forest Raptor is based on the Velociraptor, is the smallest, and has black and orange feathers. The Alpine Raptor takes inspiration from the Deinonychus, which is similarly sized to large wolves and has blue feathers. Based on Utahraptors, which are the biggest and fiercest ones in the mod, the Plains Raptors have brown feathers on their body.
For those curious about what the raptors look like and how they will move around Skyrim, BirbWalker21 uploaded some footage to their YouTube channel that showcased the project. In the footage, the dinosaurs can be seen chasing after a variety of animals found in Skyrim, stalking through different locations, and attacking human characters in the game. Overall, BirbWalker21 seems to have accurately portrayed the likeness and behavior of these prehistoric raptors, which many dinosaur fans in the player base will probably enjoy witnessing in their playthrough.
This is likely not the last creature mod for Skyrim that BirbWalker21 will create, as they've already created quite a few, including Ceratopsians, Dimorphodons, and even a Megalodon. The game's fans should probably keep checking their NexusMods page to see when new prehistoric creature projects are added to their upload list in the future.
Skyrim is available now for Switch, PC, PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
