A talented Skyrim speedrunner has broken a three-year-old world record, by going from the start of the game to defeating the Ebony Warrior in under 12 minutes. The Skyrim speedrunning scene remains alive and well, and this particular category is among the most unique it has to offer.
Because of the amount of freedom that Bethesda games allow players, this often results in gamers choosing to do repeat playthroughs as a challenge run. These challenge runs will often impose artificial limitations on players as a way to make the game more difficult and fun. For example, one Skyrim player beat the game while roleplaying as a Sith Lord, showcasing what can happen when a player fully commits to playing the game a certain way, regardless of what decisions they would usually take. The fact that the game allows these types of runs is a big part of the reason why so many players return to Skyrim almost 13 years after its launch.
YouTuber nuculus shared the video of the incredible Skyrim speedrun, in which they take down the Ebony Warrior in just 11 minutes and 47 seconds. This is a vast improvement over the previous world record by Waz, which stood at 14 minutes and 27 seconds for over three years. Beginning the run at the start of the introduction, nuculus takes advantage of numerous Skyrim glitches to swiftly boost their character to level 80, focusing on the Alchemy, Block, Enchanting, Heavy Armor, and Speech skills along the way. When the Ebony Warrior appears, they're able to take him down in a single hit, ending the speedrun in world record time.
Skyrim Player Beats the Ebony Warrior in Under 12 Minutes
Skyrim's Ebony Warrior is considered one of the most powerful bosses in the game, and only appears when the player reaches level 80. He is seen almost as a "final boss" of the game, intended to test the skills that players have honed over the course of a long playthrough. Some Skyrim players have even managed to kill the Ebony Warrior in one hit on Legendary difficulty, which is an awesome feat just by itself. However, this incredible speedrun by nucular shows that, with the right preparation, it can be done in under 12 minutes.
Although Skyrim's speedrunning community continues to be extremely active, there's no doubt that many will make the jump over to The Elder Scrolls 6 when it is finally released. Although the game has been officially confirmed since its 2018 announcement, news on the title has been difficult to come by until recently. It was revealed not long ago that The Elder Scrolls 6 is in a playable state, which is great news for those ready to finally head back to Tamriel for a new adventure. Hopefully with Starfield now fully released, Bethesda will be able to speak more about the upcoming Elder Scrolls game.
