Summary

  • Talented fan shares process of creating Skyrim end table themed after iconic shields online.
  • Skyrim's enduring popularity after 13+ years continues to fuel creative fan projects and tributes.

A talented Skyrim fan online has created an incredible table based on two of the hold guard shields featured in Bethesda's RPG. The unique creation is an excellent display of this Skyrim fan's talents while paying homage to the game.

Thanks to the game's incredible longevity, the Skyrim community has continued to grow over the years. This has spawned tons of awesome fan creations, with gamers sharing their tributes to the game online. Because of the size of the fanbase, there's often a wide variety of talents on display. For example, one Skyrim fan even customized their car based on a meme related to the game, showing how these creations can often bleed into gamers' real lives, too. Considering how popular Skyrim remains over 13 years after its initial launch, these fan creations are showing no signs of going anywhere at this point.

Skyrim Missed its Shot at One Perfect DLC

Dragonborn and Dawnguard are excellent expansions, but Skyrim missed out on the opportunity to create a third DLC based on one of its iconic settings.

Redditor cosimox shared their incredible fan creation, which is based on the Solitude and Windhelm Hold Shields that some Skyrim's guards have equipped. The piece is a unique end table, with the Solitude shield on the bottom and the Windhelm one on the top. It would certainly make for a cool addition to any Skyrim fan's home. Another gamer pointed out that the Hold Shield designs would also be a great idea for custom coasters, which would be a little lower-key than an entire table.

Skyrim Hold Shields Table

Many in the thread wondered about cosimox's process of bringing this Skyrim fan creation to life, and they were kind enough to share. It all started with a used end table from their grandma, which they stained and painted with acrylic paint. Then, they "taped off the center so I could use a ball-shaped dremel bit to put 1000s of little dimples into the rim, then painted it silver for the hammered-on iron look." They also claimed to have an unfinished Whiterun Hold Shield lying around but stated they "cannot get myself to repeat that tedious process for the fake iron trims." While it's a cool look into their process, it's interesting that they found it tedious enough that they wouldn't do it again.

While the endurance of the Skyrim community is impressive, there is no doubt plenty of gamers who are more than ready to finally experience The Elder Scrolls 6. Although there have been very few Elder Scrolls 6 development updates over the last few years, the good news is that it's coming, and it appears to be next on Bethesda's agenda. Many would agree that the game was announced too early back in 2018, but gamers' patience will hopefully be rewarded.
