  • Skyrim remains popular even after 13 years, with fans always seeking new RPG experiences like it.

A Skyrim player online has made a nostalgic discovery in an antique mall, which harkens back to the game's release period back in 2011. The discovery of a Skyrim item in an antique mall could come as sad news to any gamers who remember its launch like it was yesterday.

Next month, Skyrim will celebrate its 13th anniversary. It remains one of the most popular RPGs ever released, and thanks to a dedicated modding community, it continues to retain a strong player base to this day. Gamers are always searching for the best open-world RPGs like Skyrim, seeking to capture the feeling of first exploring Bethesda's legendary title. The fact that the studio has yet to release a sequel also contributes to its ongoing popularity. When the Bethesda formula is at its best, there's nothing quite like it.

Redditor NightofHunter posted an image of their nostalgic discovery, after finding a statue of the Dragonborn at their local antique mall in Lowell, Massachusetts. These statues of Skyrim's Dragonborn have been in circulation ever since the marketing of the game was in full swing back in 2011, and many might remember seeing them pop up in their own local game stores back in the day. Nowadays, they're a little harder to come by, as very few people have space in their home for a towering statue in their home. In this instance, NightofHunter didn't purchase the statue, claiming that "purchasing it was never an option because of its height."

Skyrim Player Finds Dragonborn Statue at an Antique Mall

Sadly, it's not clear how much the antique store was charging for the Skyrim statue. When asked about the price, NightofHunter replied, "I didn't ask because I simply had no way to justify getting it," which is fair enough. Another user in the thread tracked down several posts from years gone by showing the statue in various locations, posing the hypothetical question of whether it could be the exact same statue. It seems unlikely, but it's certainly a fun thought.

While it's cool to see things like this pop up from time to time, the fact that Skyrim items can be considered antiques while no sequel has been released is unfathomable. It's not like Skyrim was a niche title - it's one of the biggest RPGs ever made. The Elder Scrolls 6 was confirmed with a vague trailer back in 2018, but little has been heard since. Many feel it was teased too early, and it's hard to argue against that idea. Hopefully with Starfield now largely behind it, Bethesda will be fully focused on finally bringing players back into the world of The Elder Scrolls in the near future.
