Summary

  • Skyrim glitches persist even 13 years after release, with some bugs like glowing eyes being amusing yet frustrating.
  • Bethesda has patched out many game-breaking issues, but some quirky bugs like the glowing eyes persist.
  • The Elder Scrolls 6 is in development, offering hope for a new era of the franchise after players endure Skyrim's enduring bugs.

A haunting Skyrim glitch has caused one player’s eyes to glow like draugr, with seemingly no fix in sight. While Skyrim is well known for its abundance of glitches, this particular issue is extremely cursed.

As a Bethesda game, Skyrim has more than its share of glitches. Some are frustrating to experience, while others are just hilarious. One recently discovered Skyrim glitch even made Markarth’s river disappear, which was an odd sight. Ultimately, it comes down to the game’s longevity. There are very few games that have players on the lookout for new bugs almost 13 years after its original release, so naturally, more Skyrim bugs will be found. Luckily, Bethesda has patched out most of the game-breaking issues in Skyrim, so it’s very rare that players deal with something like that nowadays.

Skyrim Bear Saves Player from Frost Troll

One Skyrim player discovers and shares a random encounter in the game that ended up saving them from a vicious fight with a Frost Troll.

Redditor tony_saufcok shared the strange Skyrim glitch, which causes the player’s eyes to glow like a Draugr. Some in the thread didn’t exactly see this as a problem, with one user claiming “Looks dope congrats.” Several gamers in the thread tried to come up with unique roleplay scenarios the player could embrace, in the scenario that the bug proved unfixable. Suggestions ranged from “Too much Skooma,” to “One too many glowing mushrooms.”

Disturbing Skyrim Glowing Eyes Glitch

One player in the the thread had actually seen this bug before, claiming it was a bug with using the Skyrim shout Aura Whisper. However, the only fix that they had found was reloading a previous save. If tony_saufcok didn’t have another Skyrim save before this issue occurred, they would have been completely out of luck. In the end, the user did come up with a solution involving the use of Skyrim console commands, but a console player having this same problem would not have been so lucky.

With Bethesda now in full development of The Elder Scrolls 6, the wait is almost over for the next iteration of the franchise. It has been a mammoth wait so far, with gamers displaying an enormous amount of patience for almost 13 years while Bethesda developed Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and Starfield. Recent news suggests that The Elder Scrolls 6 is in a playable state, although this doesn’t confirm how close the new game is to actually launching. Bethesda has remained pretty quiet on the sequel, so gamers will have to wait for the studio to let loose any official news at some point in the future.
