  • Skyblivion mod team visits Bethesda headquarters after an invite from the developer.
  • Bethesda supports Skyblivion, despite concerns about competition.
  • Skyblivion is still set for a 2025 release, with its extremely ambitious scale.

Some of the members of the development team behind Skyrim mod Skyblivion have recently visited the Bethesda headquarters in the wake of Oblivion Remastered's popular release. Skyblivion is an upcoming Skyrim mod that looks to recreate the entirety of Oblivion in the 2011 title.

At this point, the Skyblivion mod has been in development for years, and the surprise launch of Oblivion Remastered left some fans concerned that Bethesda would take action to prevent the launch of the mod. Despite Bethesda's ardent support of the modding community over the years, it's easy to see how the two could be seen as competing with each other. However, all the noise from both sides has been positive about the two co-existing with each other, with the Skyblivion team even receiving game keys for Oblivion Remastered after its launch.

Skyblivion May Be Missing a Huge Piece of the Puzzle

Skyblivion, the upcoming fan-made remake of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, looks incredibly ambitious, but it's missing one major piece of the puzzle.

Now, it seems the relationship between both teams has continued to develop in a positive manner, after some of the Skyblivion team were invited to visit Bethesda's headquarters and even meet Todd Howard. The post confirms that Bethesda has a "shared enthusiasm for Skyblivion and their modding community," which is obviously good news for fans who enjoy the studio's approach to modding. It makes sense . After all, Skyrim mods are a big part of the reason the game is still relevant for so long after its release.

Skyblivion Team Visits Bethesda Studios

The Skyblivion team has always been positive about the official Oblivion Remaster ever since rumors of its existence began to pop up. Players having more options to experience Oblivion is ultimately a good thing, so it's great to see that sentiment shared across the board. Where some companies issue DMCA strikes to talented modders, Bethesda embraces them instead.

Skyblivion is still set for a 2025 release, although the development team has yet to nail down a concrete date. If it lives up to its potential, it could be one of the most exciting modding projects of all time. It's certainly one of the most ambitious, considering how few mods of this scale actually end up releasing after their initial announcement. To get this far is an achievement in itself, and the finish line is finally in sight.
