Ubisoft's Skull and Bones is a title that's spent a lot of time in the oven. The project first began development in 2013, and through its nine years of development, Skull and Bones has gone through several versions and builds.
Still, both the developers and the fans are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Ubisoft recently revealed Skull and Bones' release date and showed off the somewhat-finalized version of its gameplay.
Most players will be able to take to the seas on November 8th, 2022. A lucky few, however, will be able to dip their toes in Skull and Bones' murky waters a bit early.
Skull and Bones' Insider Program
Ubisoft has revealed an insider program for Skull and Bones. PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S players can volunteer to be beta testers before the game's eventual release, helping to stress test some of its online features.
At the time of writing, it's unknown when these beta tests will start, or what qualifications and restrictions will be expected from players. Still, with the game only a few months away, the test will probably drop soon, so interested players shouldn't hesitate.
How to Sign Up for the Skull and Bones Beta
The application process is simple. Players just need to go to the registration page on Ubisoft's Skull and Bones site. From there, they choose what platform they intend to play on, and click the "register" button below.
After that, they're prompted to sign in, using either a Ubisoft Connect account, a Facebook account, a PSN account, an Xbox account, or a Twitch account. Once all that data is in, players just need to wait and hope they're chosen.
There are a few things prospective players should keep in mind, however. First, the developers have already stated that Skull and Bones will have fewer fantastical elements than expected at launch, This being a Beta, it's likely that some features may be missing or need polish --expectations should be kept in check.
Secondly, it's likely that members of the Insider program will be asked to sign an NDA, and will be expected to only share information with relevant parties. Skull and Bones has already been the subject of leaks, and Ubisoft will likely be cautious about information going forward. Players might not get an experience they can easily stream or share without worry.
Skull and Bones releases on November 8th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
