Once the Helm Empire Overview is unlocked, players should enter the Smuggler's Lounge, in either Sainte-Anne or Skull and Bones' Telok Penjarah, and interact with the desk. Fans who perform those actions will find that there are six areas in which they can upgrade their abilities, and Smuggler Operations is the one that is relevant to the creation of Gold Skull Rum. Indeed, reaching Rank 7 of Smuggler Operations makes it possible to refine White Skull Rum into Gold Skull Rum, and that refinement can be executed at the Distillery within the Smuggler's Lounge.

To note, players will need quite a lot of Pieces of Eight in order to achieve Smuggler Operations Rank 7. This is due to the fact that each rank is unlocked with some amount of that Skull and Bones currency, and fans who want to create Gold Skull Rum should be prepared to fulfill many of the orders that can be initiated from within the Smuggler's Lounge. This is especially true if the player is also interested in items that are stocked at the Black Market, as the vast majority of them are purchased with Pieces of Eight.

One final thing to mention is that unlocking Gold Skull Rum does not mark the end of a player's opportunity to expand their alcohol production.
