Full Circle head of creative Jeff Seamster has claimed that the upcoming Skate reboot is the "best Skate has ever felt" while discussing the upcoming title. Hopes are high for the Skate reboot, which is set to enter Early Access later this year.

It has been over 15 years since the last game in the Skate series was released. Despite its popularity, the series has been on hiatus for a while, and news of its re-emergence was met with excitement from gamers. However, the road so far has been anything but smooth, with various controversies dulling some fans' excitement for the Skate reboot. Confirmation that the next Skate will be a live-service title was frustrating enough for some fans, while recently, others have voiced their concerns about the game's more cartoony art style.

Skate 3 Anniversary
15 Years Ago, Skate 3 Marked the End of an Era

Today marks the 15th birthday of Skate 3, a truly special entry in EA's seminal skateboarding trilogy, and the last true AAA skateboarding game.

Despite some fans' concerns, Full Circle head of creative Jeff Seamster has full faith in the Skate reboot. Speaking to GamesRadar+, the developer claimed that "coming back to this series [for this reboot], we needed to make sure it felt like Skate, which was everything." He believes that "the feel of the game, of being on the board, is the epicenter of what this franchise is about." Ultimately, if the game feels good, most will forget about previous Skate controversies.

Skate Lead Believes Reboot is 'the Best It's Ever Played'

However, getting Skate to feel like Skate was not necessarily done overnight, with Seamster stating, "When we started, we reached a point where we had fully restored the entire Skate 3 engine and integrated it into the current Frostbite engine. Getting that feeling was important, and we nailed it. I know this is the best Skate has ever felt; it's the best it's ever played, and we're super excited for people to get their hands on it." Playtests for Skate are already underway, but the wide Early Access release isn't quite ready yet.

I know this is the best Skate has ever felt; it's the best it's ever played...

Given the beloved nature of the previous Skate games, claims like this will undoubtedly leave fans with high hopes. But with high hopes come equally high expectations, making it easier for fans to be potentially disappointed in the final game. The recent revelation that the Skate reboot will be online-only has already left some fans feeling let down, so let's hope that the gameplay itself feels excellent at its core.
