How to Smith Grind in Skate 4

Skate 4 Smith Motion

To perform a Smith in Skate 4, you have to find something to grind on first. Any standard curb will do, but you'll have a much easier time with rails. There are a few staircases with metal rails throughout San Vansterdam that are perfect for practicing Smith grinds. You can also climb onto certain buildings to find sweet skating spots.

Once you've found a grinding spot, you can pull off a Smith by flicking the right analog stick to the side and then scooping it upward in a quarter-circle motion. The motion is dependent on the way you approach, so switch your stance if necessary. You also have to do this motion midair, so make sure you jump with an Ollie first.

If done correctly, you'll lower the front of your board and grind on the back truck while the nose is dipped. It'll take a few tries to get the hang of it, but it'll get easier with practice. It's a lot easier to pull off when you're going fast, so try setting a session marker far enough away from a rail so you can build up some speed.

Smith grinds are some of the hardest tricks to pull off in Skate 4, so you should be able to handle anything else the game throws your way. Check out the full Skate 4 trick list and start practicing so you'll be ready for upcoming challenges and tasks.
