Nearly 15 years after the full release of Skate 3, the iconic franchise has finally returned with Skate. While it’s still in soft launch, this skateboarding sim brings back the culture of skating for fans and doesn’t box you in with just real-world tricks. Alongside off-board maneuvers like the Cannonball and Dive Roll, you can also land some wild moves, like sending your character off a ramp and flying like an eagle.
Some tricks show up in daily challenges. Others help with progression, like unlocking new areas of San Van for free skating, leveling up your neighborhood rep, or stacking Rip Coins. One of the classic tricks you’ll be pulling off is Christ Air. It’s a staple for quests, but also a flashy move to show off when you’re partying up with homies. Here’s how to do Christ Air in Skate 4.
How to Christ Air in Skate 4
The Christ Air is mainly a no-foot grab trick and one of the five added in the early release. Unlike on-board maneuvers, this one has to be done midair, so you’ll need to ride up on your board and launch off a high platform to do it smoothly. If you try it on the ground, you’ll just end up doing a Foot Plant instead.
When performed, your character grabs the roller, stretches out their arms, straightens their legs, and then drops back down in style. To do a Christ Air in Skate 4, press R2 + B on Xbox. On PlayStation, the input is L2 + Circle.
Keep in mind that controls can shift depending on the stance you’ve set.
For example, in Goofy stance, Christ Air works with R2 + B, but in Regular stance, you’ll need L2 + B. You can check or change your stance preferences by heading into Gameplay > Controls in the settings menu. Along with using the right controls, practicing the stunt is essential, and the best place to do so is The P-Hus in Gullcrest Village. To land the Christ Air in style instead of crashing hard, you can combine it with tricks like In Air Tuck and flips.
Other cool grab tricks to try include the Coffin, which you can do while riding. If you want a speed bonus, learning how to pump effectively should be on your to-do list. Skateboarders can open Skatepedia from the side menu for a full list of tricks and their controls.
