The Sims 4: For Rent focuses on communal spaces and property management. Players can live in, build, and own Residential Rental Lots and enjoy the beautiful world of Tomarang as part of it. As tenants, they will be expected to follow their rental rules and pay their rent on time, but if their landlords aren't maintaining the property, they have a way to protect themselves.

Sims can incite a Tenant Revolt whenever their living spaces are lacking or are being poorly managed. Whether players fall victim to bad landlords in their casual gameplay or intentionally put their Sims through the wringer, here's how they can start a Tenant Revolt in The Sims 4: For Rent.

How to Start a Tenant Revolt in The Sims 4

The Sims 4: For Rent

When players are looking for a rental for their Sims to move into, several factors point to a suitable living environment. There are also things that point to negative aspects. If Sims need places with cheap rent, they may find that they lack amenities and resources.

Landlords should be responsible for broken appliances, plumbing issues, and pest control. However, some things may get pushed onto the residents to maintain or be ignored if the property owners are slacking. The Residential Rental will lose its star ratings if things are not fixed in a timely manner.

Once a rental hits a low enough rating, Sims can start a Tenant Revolt. A Tenant Revolt is a way to band together all the other renters and demand better living conditions from their property owner. Simmers can take the following steps to start a Tenant Revolt:

  • Click on another tenant from a different household.
  • Select the Rental social menu.
  • Choose "Incite a Tenant Revolt." It will be grayed out if the unit ratings aren't low enough.

If the other residents agree that the conditions are unacceptable, the Tenant Revolt will start immediately, and Sims will start pulling out signs and chanting about their discontent. All of the Sims living in the apartments will join in on the revolt.

A Tenant Revolt is like a planned event or holiday; it features a time frame and goals. The main objective is for Sims to call their property owner to the Residential Rental and confront them.

Whenever the landlord arrives, players must click on them and find the Rental social menu. They will see the option to "Ask for Better Conditions," which prompts them to start negotiating for their tenancy rights. If their landlord agrees, the Tenant Revolt ends, and the unit rating improves.

There's a chance for the rating to fall again if the property owner doesn't make the needed changes, but tenants can always revolt again when they need to.
