An old survey might've hinted at the game show-like venues coming to The Sims 4 with the Adventure Awaits expansion pack. If there really is a connection, it could provide more details on this highly anticipated feature. The Sims 4 fans were expecting an expansion to be revealed in the month of September due to a roadmap leak and an accidental announcement post created after an EA app update.
Not long after the rumors started, it was revealed that a first-look trailer would come out on September 4. Gamers patiently waited, and The Sims Team delivered with a three-minute trailer. While the gameplay trailer, scheduled for September 10, will give players a much more detailed look at what is coming to the game in the upcoming expansion pack, The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits trailer and the blog post that followed its release also reveal a fair bit of information on what is to come.

Getaway Competition Feature Teased in February Survey
One thing that caught players' eyes in the Adventure Awaits trailer was the Challenge Modifier. If players slow down the footage and pay close attention, they will notice that there are a handful of Challenge Modifiers. These will be applied to the custom getaways that players can build with the Adventure Awaits expansion pack in order to alter the gameplay in each location. There are various challenges that make it possible for players to make their own game show in The Sims 4. Reddit user xjordyj did some digging and was able to connect these challenges with a reality TV feature previously mentioned in a survey.
It seems that back in February 2025, The Sims Team asked players about how they would feel about a reality TV feature in The Sims 4 and even explained how it could work. In this hypothetical scenario, Sims would have to face all sorts of challenges and trials in order to gain points. Those with the lowest score at the end of the week would get booted off the show.
Since Adventure Awaits seems to be a more outdoorsy expansion pack, such as Outdoor Retreat, it is possible that there won't be an audience for these competitions compared to the ones mentioned in the survey. However, the point system and the trials could still be how Sims are eliminated, as shown in the Adventure Awaits trailer. This feature could add a lot of replay value to The Sims 4, so most fans are excited. Hopefully, the gameplay trailer that is going live on September 10 will provide more insight about it.
