There are a lot of hidden things to discover in Hollow Knight: Silksong, and the mushroom herald's journey is probably one of the weirdest occurrences. How To Trigger The Passing Of The Age Quest In Silksong
To trigger the Passing of the Age quest in Silksong, keep heading east from the Fleatopia until there's a way to go up.
Use wall jump, and you should soon reach a cliff. But if you look up, there should be a golden glow above you. Use the 
Silk Soar skill to enter.
At the end of the tunnel, Hornet can inspect a golden tablet. Choose to promise the wish to begin the Passing of the Age quest in HK Silksong.

How To Complete The Passing Of The Age Quest In Silksong
To complete the Passing of the Age quest in Silksong, players must find Mister Mushroom in seven different locations. The locations are hinted at in the form of a riddle, but in short, here are all the mushroom herald locations:
- Moss Grotto
- Bone Bottom
- Far Fields
- Greymoor
- The Slab
- Mount Fay
- The Cradle
After reaching the hinted spot, players can know they're in the right place when they see blue mushrooms with yellow circles on the ground. To summon Mister Mushroom, play the Needolin until he pops out of the ground.
The riddle must be solved in order; you can't skip a location, as he won't appear unless you solve the previous riddle. Most of the places are easy, except for the final location.

Go to the peak of The Cradle. Prepare yourself for a "test of fitness" in the form of parkour puzzles.
To reach The Cradle in Silksong, head to the room to the right of the Cogwork Core. Keep looking up until there's an opening.
Use Silk Soar to enter the gap, and you should be transported to the side area of the Cogwork Core. Keep climbing the place to reach The Cradle.
When you reach the room where the Architect Melody puzzle once was, you must find the correct spot to stand in to lift yourself up.
Later, when you arrive at the place you fought Lace the second time, you must also use the super jump, but this time, it's easily located from the light that shines from above.
After reaching the platform where you fought Grandmother Silk, don't forget to claim the 
Pale Nails Silk Skill. Then, find the correct spot to enter the small opening above.
At the top of The Cradle is a cave that you can enter. Head inside. Prepare yourself for a platforming challenge.
After passing the test of fitness, use the Needolin one last time to summon Mister Mushroom. This time, the herald will finally converse with Hornet before soaring above and disappearing.
Now, you'll arrive at the surface, in a place called the Nameless Town. Whack some cockroach-like bugs for the Hunter's Journal, then play the Needolin at the big skull cave to get a Surface Memento. Once done admiring the surface, head back left to where the spikes are, and find a cave that leads back to where you started in The Cradle.
Descend back to Pharloom to continue with your journey to fix the catastrophe.

To get the Passing of the Age achievement in Silksong, players must defeat the final boss of Act 3 after completing the Passing of the Age quest. This will unlock a secret ending in Silksong, on top of the ending you will get normally. This means you can get both endings and achievements at once.
