While exploring the world of Hollow Knight: Silksong, players will have the opportunity to obtain Crafting Kits. Those items' descriptions indicate that they can be used to craft finer, sharper, and deadlier tools, though some players may be confused about exactly what that means. This guide is here to alleviate that confusion, and it will give players a solid understanding of how Crafting Kits work in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
What Do Crafting Kits Do in Silksong?
While the item description may lead some players to believe that Crafting Kits unlock new tools in Silksong, the reality is that they simply increase tool damage. This effect is noted within the Inventory menu after a Crafting Kit is obtained. More specifically, players who have claimed a Crafting Kit can highlight the Tool Pouch & Crafting Kit item in their inventory to see that one circle beneath "Tool Damage" has been filled in.
The in-game description of Crafting Kits is as follows: Crafting by claw alone produces inferior results. With this kit you can craft finer, sharper, and deadlier tools... If that is your wish.
Crafting Kit Locations in Silksong
There are four Crafting Kits in Hollow Knight: Silksong, and here is how they are obtained:
Crafting Kit #1
Players can purchase a Crafting Kit from the Forge Daughter, a vendor found within Deep Docks, for 180 Rosaries. This vendor's precise position is shown on the preceding map, and players can reach this area after getting Silkspear and freeing the Bell Beast in Silksong.
The Forge Daughter also sells the Magma Bell, a trinket that players will need if they hope to fully explore Deep Docks, unlock the Swift Step ability, and enter Silksong's Far Field area.
Crafting Kit #2
Grindle has a Crafting Kit for sale in the Blasted Steps, an area to the west of Shellwood. This kit costs 700 Rosaries, and players will pass through the Blasted Steps on their way to Silksong's Grand Gate.
Crafting Kit #3
Players can buy a Crafting Kit from the Twelfth Architect in the Underworks for 450 Rosaries. The Underworks is an area that players will explore during Silksong's second Act, and the vendor's location has been marked on the preceding map.
Crafting Kit #4
Players can earn a Crafting Kit by completing Silksong's Crawbug Clearing Wish, which can be initiated by interacting with the Wish Board in Bellheart after lifting the curse.
