Konami has announced a live interview with Silent Hill series producer Motoi Okamoto and Silent Hill f director Al Yang, scheduled for August 21. The event is expected to reveal new insights into Silent Hill f.
Originally announced in October 2022, Silent Hill f is the latest entry in the long-running franchise set in 1960s Japan, namely the fictional town of Ebisugaoka. It follows high school student Hinako Shimizu as she attempts to survive monstrosities emerging from a mysterious fog that has engulfed her town. The decision to have Silent Hill f take place in Japan rather than the titular Maine town was rooted in a desire to re-establish the series' Japanese identity, Konami previously said. The game itself is developed by Taiwanese studio NeoBards Entertainment and is scheduled for release on September 25.

Now that media outlets have gotten a chance to play Silent Hill f for a little while, details about its combat has some fans a little concerned.
New Silent Hill f Interview Coming on August 21
Ahead of its launch, Konami announced a new interview with Silent Hill f producer Motoi Okamoto and game director Al Yang. The event is scheduled to take place next Thursday, August 21, and will be aired live during Microsoft's Xbox broadcast from the Gamescom 2025 showfloor. This will technically be the second Xbox broadcast of the upcoming event, as another is also scheduled for August 20.
Next Silent Hill f Trailer Will Also Premiere at Gamescom 2025
Konami did not elaborate on the duration of the interview, nor did it disclose its contents. However, the selection of Al Yang and Motoi Okamoto as interviewees suggests the discussion will focus on the upcoming Silent Hill game, particularly as it is scheduled just two days after the latest Silent Hill f trailer premieres on August 19, during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live. Yang and Okamoto are likely to provide developer commentary on the trailer and may even address some previously unexplored aspects of the upcoming survival horror game.
The August 21 interview could mark fans' final chance to learn something new about Silent Hill f ahead of its September 25 release. The Konami-published game will have a same-day release on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Based on what NeoBards shared to date, Silent Hill f will be more action-oriented than prior franchise entries, which is a deliberate shift aimed at broadening the series' appeal and attracting new audiences.
Looking at some of the recent hands-on impressions from early August 2025, many members of the press who got a chance to try out Silent Hill f ahead of time likened it to a soulslike or a soulslite. The protagonist has a stamina bar and engages most enemies in melee, making dodging and counterattacking paramount to success. While it remains unclear how this gameplay direction will resonate with longtime fans, NeoBards said it aims to appeal to both newcomers and returning players.
