As players make their way through Silent Hill 2 Remake, they will encounter several puzzles they must solve. After reaching Lakeview Hotel, James will meet Laura again, who will give him a letter from Mary. She will then give him another Letter, which is empty, so she will run away to find it. After this encounter, players will be able to explore the multiple rooms on the different floors inside the Lakeview Hotel.

Reading Room Bookshelf Puzzle Guide

After acquiring the Sunrise Wing Key in the Utility Room, players interested in combat in Silent Hill 2 Remake can head up the staircase to 2F and use the Key on the double doors on the right. Immediately after opening the doors, head right into the Reading Room. You can pick up four books in the room linked to a puzzle. There is also a Save Point towards the right of the room.

Arranging The Puzzle & What To Do After

Once you pick up all the books, you can inspect the portrait inside the room, which shows how the books should be placed on the bookshelf. Here is how to arrange the books in the correct order:

  • Place Revelations: A New Understanding in the top left slot.
  • Place The One Who Soared in the top right slot.
  • Place Stalwart to the End in the bottom left slot.
  • Place Pride Before the Fall in the bottom right slot.

This will open up a small compartment inside the Reading Room, where you can find three Photos, a locked suitcase, and a mirror with a broken bulb. You can then explore the rest of 2F to proceed in the story.
