After chasing Laura through the fog-shrouded streets of Silent Hill, you’ll find yourself at Brookhaven Hospital, one of the largest areas in the Silent Hill 2 Remake. Brookhaven Hospital is divided into five floors, from the dank basement to the rooftop. Before you can access the different floors of Brookhaven Hospital, you’ll need to turn on the hospital generator. The generator powers up the hospital elevator, which you can use to move between the different floors freely.

How to Access the Basement in Silent Hill 2 Remake

The hospital generator can be found in the basement of Brookhaven Hospital. The basement is initially locked, so you’ll first need to solve the intricate padlock puzzle in the Reception Office on the first floor to get the basement key.

The clue to solve the puzzle can be found in Examination Room 3, but if you’re in a rush, here’s the solution to this puzzle on the different difficulty modes in Silent Hill 2:

Enter the code to open the locker and grab the Basement Key. When you enter the basement, make sure to grab the Hospital Basement Map to help you navigate easily.

You’ll run into a lot of enemies in the basement, so make sure you’re properly armed.

How to Start The Generator in Silent Hill 2 Remake

Once you’re in the basement, find the Generator Room on the west side. Inside, you’ll find the hospital generator that powers up the elevator, but it needs fuel so that it can be turned on. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you turn on the generator:

  1. Go to Boiler Room 0.10 in the basement and search it thoroughly to find an Empty Fuel Can.
  2. Next, walk across the hall into the Laundry Storage 0.5 Room. Here, you need to push the laundry cart into Laundry Room and set it against the wall so that you can jump through the gap into Storage Room.
  3. Inside the Storage Room, you’ll find a Fuel Tank that you can use to fill up your Empty Fuel Can.
  4. Once the can is filled, return to the Generator room and refuel it.
  5. Flip the switch to turn on the Generator, which will activate the hospital’s elevator, granting you access to the upper floors.
