Silent Hill 2 Remake Has Sold 2.5 Million Copies

Celebrating the franchise's latest milestone, Konami announced that Silent Hill video games have sold over ten million copies in total, with nearly 2.5 million of those coming from the Silent Hill 2 remake. This is a remarkable achievement for developer Bloober Team, which is currently working on four upcoming games, including Star Trek: Infection. The studio also released Cronos: The New Dawn this year, which achieved both commercial and critical success and currently holds a Very Positive rating on Steam.

Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 remake currently holds an Overwhelmingly Positive rating from over 30,000 Steam reviewers. Many players have called it one of the best psychological horror games of the decade, while others consider it an excellent example of a respectable remake of a classic title. On the review aggregator OpenCritic, the game has an average score of 87 out of 100, showing that critics have also received it very positively. For comparison, the original game, often referred to as a "masterpiece," earned a score of 89 out of 100 from critics back in 2001.

Bloober Team's financial success with the remake has also fueled rumors of a long-anticipated Silent Hill 2 DLC. While there has been no official word on an expansion, many fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the Born from a Wish DLC, possibly featuring new content tied to the upcoming movie, Return to Silent Hill. Sadly, current hints suggest the rumored expansion may not arrive for the remake anytime soon, though that doesn't rule out the possibility that it is in development.

Many fans are also hoping the game will come to Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2, though no confirmation has been given. However, given its success on other platforms, reflected in 2.5 million units sold, it seems likely that Bloober Team and Konami will bring the Silent Hill 2 remake to new platforms and expand it with future downloadable content.
